The Cheney crack is silly coming from the Winchesters. They are pragmatic, they're realists, they lie, cheat, steal, kill, and are accountable to no one. The criticisms of Cheney that are popular these days all apply to them(I don't think Cheney does all the above, however things like snatching up bad people and locking them up when it's not convenient or possible to be proper about it seems to be in line with the Winchester's ethics). But then again some idiots seem to think that bloggers at DailyKos are being detained on a daily basis and executed or something, they can't distinguish between that and detaining guys running around Afghanistan with Bin Laden tapes and AK-47's.
I hadn't thought of it from that angle, i.e. it being out of character. You're right.
I was skeptical when Dean made that crack in "Tall Tales" about animal testing, too. And the Texas crack from "Folsom Prison Blues." It's like the writers let their own opinions bleed into Dean. I guess I can sort of understand that. Still annoying, tho.
