I'm moving from a big roll top desk that was too big and the wrong color for my bedroom, to a small, no drawers cherry desk perfect the room but note the no storage

See, now you have the perfect opportunity to go through said stuff and weed out all the things you never use/don't need, etc.

You should check out Container Store and Bed Bath and Beyond etc. to find a three tier wire thingy with baskets that you can slide under your desk to one side. Or, they make file cabinets in really pretty colours now; that might work.
