No more Dali Lama? that's news to me? Isn't he sort of a constant thing?

As far as books go, right now I'm working my way through Blue Highways, by William Least Heat-Moon. I don't know what kind of books you're into, but I'd definitely give it a general recommendation. It's basically Heat-Moon's accounts of a trip around the U.S. in the late seventies, where he takes only back-roads and generally stops only in small, off-the-map sort of towns. Interesting both as a description of a seldom seen side of America, and as a philosophical journey for him.

nope. There are only 14 of them, and this last one is the 14th. Humanity was given a certain number of reincarnations, 14 specifically, and that is the number of the current dali lahma.

hmm that book does sound interesting. I might give it a try. Thanks

really?! that's interesting. Well, the world is changing rapidly right now... politically and environmentally... Who knows where we'll all be in 10 years.

Sometimes I wonder how much thought to give to that kind of thing. Sometimes it seems like those ancient people knew something we didn't and we should actually pay attention. On the other hand, a lot of it seems pretty arbitrary.

yeah I often wonder about that too. It seems that they listened to our world a lot better than we do. Not as divorced from it, more a part of it.
I do, in the very least, wish for change.
