(Not-really OOM) "You Know I'd Rather Stay Home"

Dec 16, 2011 02:14

They've been here for ten days. Ten surprisingly long days. Dixie's not going to complain about having Brisco all to herself, but he's starting to wear on her nerves with all of that pacing.

When the door thumps open, she shuts the dime novel she'd been skimming and glances over her shoulder. "I hope you didn't waste that trip, Kansas."

oom, brisco

she gets the side-eye for that. (He secretly loves it when she teases him. Don't tell anyone.)

"Well I didn't find anything, if that's what you're asking."

Too late, Brisco - she already knows you too well. And that answer's the antithesis of what she wanted to hear; Dixie tucks a hand against her hips and raises an eyebrow. "Doors just don't disappear into thin air," she points out. "Did you ask the fella in charge if he knows what happened?"

"All I've found out is it's something that happens occasionally and no one really knows why."

He takes a seat on the edge of the bed.

"From what I've heard, sometimes people have unfinished business they have to deal with."

So it's sort of like haunting. Lovely.

Dixie sighs at that revelation. "I suppose we shouldn't expect logic from a living bar."

"Unfinished business?" Her voice changes tones, turning more playful. "Imagine, us having unfinished business..."

She can't resist flirting with him, or running her stocking'd toes up his spine.
