"Helaas" is Dutch for "alas". How awesome is that?

Why exactly has English changed so much from O.E. whilst the other Teutonic languages appear not to have changed so much? I mean, that can't all be the Normans, can it? They can't shoulder all that blame. Were our ancestors just lazier than other people or what ( Read more... )

the big mystery in life. maybe we are lazy or maybe English was destined to become the big mixed up shifty hodgepodge language it is today. I leave it to you to discover the answer to this great mystery.

It may have something to do with the fact that Baldrick was allowed to tamper with Dr Samuel Johnson's Dictionary.
