Um. One girl I went to middle school with who is only about six months older than me is getting married in December. But then again, she went to Roosevelt high school and some other high school in tacoma. I think she's in the national guard now... But seriously. We were really good friends. I think we still are, I just haven't seen her in a long time since she moved to Tacoma. My friend is getting MARRIED. Dude.
She did better than her mother, though! Her mother got married at 16 and had her first child at 18. And had three kids total.
Wackiness. Can you even imagine getting married at 16? What were we doing then, chilling in the Counselling Centre at Lakeside? "But then again, she went to Roosevelt high school and some other high school in tacoma." I think I know what you mean by that, and it's part of the reason that I'm weirded out by this happening at my college!
Haha, yeah. Counseling Center, I remember that. I think in senior year I stopped going in there. Maybe went in there three times the entire year. But, at 16, that was junior year ish. I was taking SATs and APs and stuff, not thinking about getting married.
But dude. Me, getting married at 16? Or even 18? I was way too stupid at 16 and still am. I'm not ready to get married, man, I just started college! I don't think I will be "ready" to get married until I'm like 25 or 26 or something. Once I'm done with school and stuff.
Yeah. She was smart in middle school. Then she went to public school and moved to Tacoma. It's even weirder that it's happening at your school. If someone I knew here got married... I wouldn't believe it...
OMG Lucie we're growing up! We're old enough to get married, smoke, go to strip clubs... I don't wanna grow up!! :(
(I mean, I can't talk- I get engaged to people all the time, but I don't think they take it seriously...)
But no- you'd think, in this day and age, getting married that young would be almost unheard of. Everyone seems to plan to get out and do things first.
marriage...what?germanladyOctober 2 2007, 04:55:15 UTC
um. wow. Not unheard of actually...I have two friends who were thinking of getting married pretty seriously but...stil always weirds me out. I mean, I'm happy for them but...wow. For me to get married now...there would have to be a war. A really big one. At least. Or possibly the apocolapyse.

Ohhh... I'd get all Jayne from Firefly! "You guys started the apocalypse? On account of me? My very own apocalypse?" *choked up*
Blehhh. I can't imagine you getting married. And then I might have to share you with some bloke! *glowers* Don't wanna share. My Prongs! You can not has! Need for enabling of stupid plans!
I think it might have a lot to do with maturity, probably. Which would explain my distinct inability to even comprehend being able to make such a big decision.
But my sister is turning 29 in a few days. That's crazy! I still remember her sixteenth birthday where I sat on her lap and talked to her cool teenage friend on the phone. Oh, that reminds me of our old phone, before it died.
Oh dear. I've been gone for a month now and the sentimental phase is kicking in.

(Me too. I don't think they know most of the time.)
They're not actually getting married until they both get out of college, which is very reassuring, but I can't understand even thinking of marriage.
