Summary: When life become unbearable, we search for that loving one. Only lucky people find it. Hyde did.

Chapter 10
The birds were singing their eternal song, filling the world with their own melody, drowning the park in a melodic, monotonous tune. The trees, caressed by the kind wind, dancing along, filling the park with a momentary feeling of joy, of celebration.
We walked, almost ran, hand-in-hand, completely ignoring the beautiful art around us, worried by other things. He walked fast, in front of me, ignoring the beautiful scenery before him, worried about two persons, who were still laughing freely as any other person on a park on a spectacular Saturday afternoon.
"Tetsu... wait... what are we-?" I said slowly, as I tried to hold him back by stopping on my tracks. He only silenced me with a faint "Sh!" and he pulled me to walk again, completely ignoring my words.
'Damn, he's completely jealous'
Said Chibi Ken with a mocking tone, as though telling me "Go on! Say something". For the first time... well, not actually... I was obedient. I stopped on my tracks again, holding his hand firmly, as though yelling "I'm not gonna let you go!".
"Are you jealous?" I asked, when he turned towards me, already asking with his eyes my reason for stopping. Maybe because he didn't expect me to be so paranoid, he looked at me with a stunned look, as though thinking hard whether I was being serious or not.
"No" he said simply, as he held my other hand slowly, looking directly at my eyes, as though trying to find the source of the question. After some minutes of silence, he smirked and added "Doiha-chan... maybe the only one jealous here is you" he said as a genuine smile crept upon his lips.
"Don't tease me" I said as I couldn't help but control my face, that had surely turned into a pout. I only looked towards the sky, with a proud look upon me.
He laughed cutely as he cupped my face in his hands, making me look towards him. I slowly looked at him, showing him my proud look, but at the sight of his smiling face, I couldn't help but forget his comeback and weakly smile back. I surrounded him with my arms slowly, enjoying the look of surprise upon his face. Apparently, he hadn't expected such a move, but seemed to get along with it in some moments. He slowly got closer to my face, teasing again with that little smirk upon his lips, that made a tiny hole in his left cheek, that completely took hold of my weak defenses. I closed my eyes already tasting his lips, already feeling that heavenly feeling around me, and suddenly...
"Hahahaha! Ken-chan! That's so funny!" said... no... yelled that same girl...
'Fuck it damn it! I know you're to "correct" to say it... but, why can't that bitch just die so I can make out... and even more... with Tetsu!?'
I could only sigh and look towards the ground, blushing madly at Chibi Ken's words. The worst thing, as always, was that he was right.
I didn't have to look towards him to know that Tetsu was already staring curiously towards them, trying to overhear their conversation. Although that wasn't needed for she was laughing her lungs out, along with Ken-chan.
I didn't even protest (for I had given up the chance of kissing him again) when Tetsu grabbed my hand and led me closer to them, walking slowly, for we were not too far away from them. They were really laughing freely, as though nothing had happened, as though they were two friends enjoying a peaceful afternoon.
They were sitting on a bench, in front of them was a huge lake that apparently was the greatest attraction in the whole park, for many kids were running along its bank but something divine held them distant, for they were across the lake, at least 60 feet from us. The sun was beautifully shining, reflecting its light on the lake, drowning the whole place with a ethereal light. We were hiding not too far from the bench there were occupying, between the flowers bushes packed with tons of flowers. A place that, in other circumstances, would had been a perfect romantic place for a make out... or something else.
'Pervert'
Whispered Chibi Ken in my head. It almost took me everything I had not to chuckle. Chibi Ken telling me I was pervert...
'But anyway... bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch, bitch! How long was she Tetsu's girlfriend and now she is peacefully laughing with his best friend!? BITCH!'
I could only ignore Chibi Ken as he babbled on and on the same 'Bitch, bitch, bitch!' speech over and over again. But at Hikari's sudden words, even Chibi Ken felt silent.
"Ah... haha... thank you for being with me Ken-chan, it means a lot.... you really are a great man, and I have to say, even better than Tetsu" she said, still smiling.
She wasn't close enough to see her exact expression, but it was enough to hear those cold words and to see that smile, shining brightly with the sun's reflection on the lake, with the kind wind caressing our faces.
Silence fell upon us, and upon them. Ken didn't say a word, he just looked at her, expressionless. I didn't know if I should turn my head and look at Tetsu, I didn't know if I should say something... I just squeezed his hand a little bit tighter, trying to reassure him in a way.
Cold words... such things hurt the most. Even being stared at, being screamed at, or even being hit... such things were nothing compared to simple cold words.
Suddenly the silence became too painful, suddenly the sound of the water's calm flow on the lake cut deeply into the flesh... hurting... destroying the little joy left in our hearts.
What kind of thoughts was he thinking? What kind of things would he feel with those words? Would he suddenly become weak-minded at such words? Just like me? Or was he strong enough to simply ignore them? Wisely deciding not to suffer.. not to remember...
I was let out from my thoughts by some words pronounced by Ken-chan, that shocked us even more than Hikari's.
"Thank you" he said softly, as a slight smile appeared in his lips, almost naturally, as though really saying what he was thinking.
I stood there as silence fell upon us again. Tetsu hadn't said a word since Hikari spoke and I longed to hear a simple "Whatever" or any kind of good reaction from him. The last thing I wanted was to see him suffer, the last thing I wanted was to look at those empty eyes.. those typical empty eyes that I met before I could even speak...
"Tet...chan?" I whispered softly, my eyes closed, trying to forget about the memories that were suddenly appearing in my mind, mixed with the image of a smiling Ken, not really caring if he stood up for his friend or not. I just wanted him to look towards me, and give me one of those reassuring smiles, telling me all I needed to know; that he was alright, that everything will disappear in a moment.
Before I even knew it, when I opened my eyes again, we were already walking slowly, out of the bushed and towards them. Tetsu was in front of me, just guiding me, his head looking ahead. I wanted to stop him and look at him. I wanted to hug him and tell him it'll be alright. I just wanted to know if he was alright.
'But you don't have the ba... guts. Now this is going to turn into an awful fight. I better stare intently!'
Chibi Ken fell silent after this, almost making sure that he could hear and watch everything closely. I simply let Tetsu guide me, without even thinking of what may come next. I winked and surprisingly found myself in front of Hikari and Ken, who were still sitting in the bench, Tetsu by my side. When I was about to turn to look at Tetsu, everything happened very quick.
In a single movement, Tetsu let go of my hand, drew his hand into a fist and threw a punch to Ken, who was too surprised to react. Next thing I knew, Hikari was screaming and Ken and Tetsu were on the floor, punching each other fiercely.
I just stood there, ignoring the typical macho yells coming from Chibi Ken ('Fight! Fight! Fight!') trying to not hear the vicious screaming from Hikari, who was trying to stop them with a look of genuine fear on her face.
When, along with a sudden ray of sunlight reflected on the lake, a drop of blood coming from Tetsu appeared, I reacted... violently.
Ken was sitting on Tetsu's lap, punching him on the face. With all the strength I had, I grabbed him by the collar and threw him to the floor, not really caring if he may be hurt too. Almost immediately he threw his hands at me, grabbing me by the front of my shirt, making me loose balance and fall to the floor, but I sat bolt upright, almost by instinct.
Next thing I could detect, Tetsu's fist came flying out of nowhere not too far from my left ear, and hit Ken across the face, resulting in a sudden splash of blood coming from his nose, and a terrified scream coming from Hikari.
"Don't you even touch him!" yelled Tetsu not too far away from me, for I could feel his agitated breath on my neck. Hikari was now kneeling at Ken's side, whispering desperately if he was okay and trying to wipe his face with her hand, but Ken kept pushing her hand away, now staring angrily above my shoulder, where Tetsu's face surely was visible.
"I'm sorry I touched your pretty, little princess! I forgot how much you loved her.. oops... may I remind you? Okay! It's a him!" he yelled back, furiously pointing at my lower parts. I could only blush as Tetsu sighed angrily and whispered some muffled words that I couldn't make out, and Hikari stared at the part where Ken was pointing, with a look of confusion upon her face.
'You know... he has a point... maybe if you showed your balls a little bit more no one would even doubt...'
Said Chibi Ken inside my head, making me bit my lip furiously. Was it that bad? I had never had any intentions on being a woman! But it was not my fault that my face was not very manly, or that my mother decided to raise me as a girl.
'May I remind you, king of manly spirit and nice groin... haha!... that you actually fell in love.. with a man?'
Echoed Chibi Ken's voice inside my head. I fell silent. Well... I couldn't reply... after all, again, he was right...
I blinked. Everything before me was the same. Ken was pointing at my lower parts, a look of evident rage upon his face, looking directly at Tetsu. Hikari was still staring at... my part... a look of puzzlement on her face. Tetsu was silent at my back.
The chirping of the birds suddenly filled our ears, and the wind caught our hair as the scene was, apparently, paused. Then, slowly, Hikari's head turned to stare at Tetsu, who I had concluded, was showing his head above my left shoulder.
Then, without notice, Tetsu got hold of my right arm and pulled me, so I could fully stand, and at last, I could turn and look at him.
He was red on the face, his lip was bleeding slowly, a string of blood falling from it to his neck. His eyes were burning with mixed feelings, his lips were trembling with kept words. And then, at last he spoke, with a voice that felt completely out of place and person. It was calm, almost resigned.
"Now this? Is this it?" he whispered, looking at Ken-chan. And then, I glanced around to look at him too.
Ken was still sprawled on the floor, his nose still bleeding. Hikari was simply kneeling by his side, her hand on his shoulder. Ken only smirked.
"Maybe it is" he said with an audible voice, but I could still detect a peck of sadness.
"I thought you always told me girls wouldn't interfere in our friendship" he whispered again, his voice still calm but a sad tone. Ken kept smirking.
"I always said that, mate. But maybe I thought you've realized by now it's just that... words." he said slowly as he threw Tetsu a meaningful look, as though continuing the phrase with his eyes. Then, moments later he continued, with the same smirk on his face. "And besides... I don't think this time we're talking about a girl..." he said now with a determined voice. By my side, I could feel Tetsu raising to his full height. I could only look towards the ground. Those words actually... stung.
"Fine, then" said Tetsu, while he gripped my hand with unexpected calmness. "Then maybe... and just maybe... you should consider punishing yourself, for once you actually told me that you thought I'd make an excellent lover".
And we walked away together, leaving behind a shock-looking Hikari and a blushing Ken.
