So, I have THREE tests this week. One tomorrow, one Wednesday, and another math one on Friday. Math homework up the wazoo to get done by midnight on Thursday. That guy is seriously an asshole for the way he assigns things. He's kind of an asshole anyway, but I could ignored it if it wasn't something like this stressing me out. Wish I could say this ( Read more... )

I know. There are so many little fandoms out there that I always kinda wonder WHY are they so small? I don't really like how the small fandom bang people are evaluating what constitutes a small fandom--2,000+ stories on ff.net in that fandom regardless of how old or new the fandom is--but it's their dog and pony show, so eh. Besides, mine is still and probably always will be considered small.

I just looked up this smallfandombang thing and was considering it, because I've had it in my head to write a Dirty Dancing fic lately, but then rapidly backed away at the 10,000 word requirement. Lol. That is so not happening. Is there a small fandom baby bang? :)

What is up with the 10,000 word requirement, anyway? And with the under 2000 fics requirement, that actually leaves quite a few choices. In the movie section, where I usually lurk, only 17 have more than 2000 stories. 17 movies out of the universe of movies ever created.

It's because it's a "big bang" and the higher word count is sort of like the point, it's meant to be challenging to people who wouldn't normally write longer stories I'm pretty sure ( ... )

I'm pretty new to LJ, so I wouldn't even begin to know where to look for fanfiction. I was also unaware of the abundance of slash until recently. Lol. I suppose that's primarily because my 93.7% of the time fandom is Labyrinth, and 93.7% of that is Jareth/Sarah. I suppose I would consider Labyrinth a smallish fandom even though it has 7000 fics, but it's also 25 years old. But then I'm not sure when ff.net came into being, because I imagine that's really the benchmark. I read Laby fic before ff.net, since '98, but not all that much has been transferred to ff.net, I suspect because those people had already moved on from writing fanfic.

Thanks for the heads-up on the smallfandomfest! I'll have to check it out, though I suspect I might just write it and be done with it. I can't imagine many people are hankering to read Dirty Dancing fanfic. ;)

Well, there's adultfanfiction.net, which sucks about as hard as ff.net if we're being honest but the characters take their clothes off a lot more. Most fandoms have either communities on LJ or archives of their own for hold fan fiction, too and you can usually find them just by googling. There's also http://archiveofourown.org/ which has all fandoms and several ways of searching for specific pairings and genres etc. Dunno if you know about some or any of those, but if you're looking for stuff to read, might try that ( ... )
