Lush and hair dye and you! (or rather, me.)

So, should Big be considered totally off-limits for people with colored hair? I went from medium-brown to red tonight, went to take a bath (with a random Marshmellow Melt I found in the bathroom, lol) read the label and realized, f me, lemon juice ( Read more... )

conditioner: retread, shampoo: big

I dye my hair bright red and use Cynthia Sylvia Stout which isn't too bad (there is lemon but masses more stout which seems to counteract that). I use John Frieda's Radient Red conditioner though, my hair's curly but I can't stand coconut so can't use most of the conditioners. I was in today and got a sample of Retread to try, so I'll see how that goes. Tbh though, as much as I love using LUSH products, they just aren't cut out for red hair! What does really help though is another John Frieda product - there's a colour glaze which adds colour when you use it which seems to be helping to keep the colour really well!

A Lush SA told me not to use Big when I had just henna dyed my hair because it strips the dye.

Big was (and still is - I miss it) my favourite Lush shampoo, but before I started dying my hair I found that in between washing out Big and applying conditioner my hair felt SO brittle and awful... I think it's pretty intense.

That being said, when used with a good conditioner (I use American Cream) it's a wonderful shampoo - I want to give it fair credit...

As it's still hanging around in my shower, what I sometimes do is use the liquid that builds up inside (but not the salt) to wash my hair when I've run out of shampoo (I use the Hard shampoo bar, by the way).

When I used New I found it quite stripping too... I'd recommend trying a more gentle bar. Trichomania is one of the more expensive shampoos but it is just glorious - I can't recommend it enough.

It definitely seems like it would strip your hair a bit, in theory. I'm trying to figure out the same thing though. I have dark brown hair, dye my hair black BUT I want to use Big or Seanik. Oh wells.
