I would have to say the former. My hair isn't long, but it is thick and curly, and I started out going "I really don't know about this" at first and then really loving how it improved the quality of my curls afterwards. And if you use Retread after it, you come out of the shower smelling like coconut cream pie.
i think i shall give it another few goes and see what happens, though i am leaning towards trich with no coconut bits. will also have to do some reading on retread, i have skimmed over it in the past
The coconut bits really aren't that bad. Yes, you need to rinse a little more carefully to make sure you got the pieces out (and because my hair is like it is, it'll hold onto things) but my hair is better off for it.
I had similar issues when I first swapped over to using Big. My hair would form this horrible birds nest at the base of my neck and took ages to get out after every shower. It's been about 4 months now and I don't get the knots any more. I couldn't say when they stopped. I just noticed one day. HTH.
it's funny, i read in the comments on the lush site that for some people it's been like a miracle for them and worked right off the bat and others it's been a nightmare.
it'll probably take some adjusting to because it's different than regular shampoos and your hair wont like it at first. i recommend following it with retread also, it's super thick and you dont have to use a whole bottle on your hair. use it a few days and see what happens, it actually ended up weighing my hair down way too much and i had to switch to ultimate shine.
My first lush hair product was curly wurly, recommended to me because I have dry, curly hair. at first I was told, and thought, it made my hair feel weird because of all the silicone buildup I had from previous shampoos... curly wurly really did not cut it for me! it's okay, but i wouldnt use it as my only shampoo. ever since switching to trichomania, same coconut oil love, my hair has been SO much more manageable, and feels thicker when its dry. I'd totally recommend that one.
