Dark Angels is used exactly the same way as AOBS- just get a penny sized piece in your hand, make a paste and smooth on. It's a bit harsh to be used everyday though as you do with AOBS- I tend to use it every other day, alternating with Ultrabland.

Yes, Dark Angels is used in the same paste making way-however it's recommended (by Lush) to only use twice a week, 3 times a week if you're oily.

I'll say this though: If coalface is too harsh for your skin, Dark Angels will be as well. Both made my skin feel like I had just rubbed it with Sandpaper.

Coalface is my top face cleanser, and it works very well on my oily skin. And I just used DA and my face feels like a baby's bottom. Although it was a little messy to use, it's worth it.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but I know I didn't get crust on mine when I bought it (then again mine came in pretty fresh). Does it smell bad? It might be worth going back to the store and asking.

It smells like oranges and champagne which I believe is the smell it should have. I've been thinking about just closely cutting it along the sides.

That is just a skin that's formed due to it being on display in the air. The jelly has oxidised a bit, drying out on the part that was exposed to air. It's fine, but if you're really concerned, just cut it off.

Yep, this. It's a holiday item, which means it's been sitting in the shop since December 2008, so it's gotten a little crusty. It should still work just fine, though =)
