I'm not terribly fond of Lush's soaps, though some of them smell really good. But I do love the buttercreams. My favorite is Randy, which is seasonal, but I also like Ring of Roses (lemon-rose, just like Amandopondo), Almond Kisses (which smells nothing like almonds - it smells like a Tootsie Roll) amd Lemslip (the least moisturizing, but great sharp lemon scent). I like to use them with exfoliating gloves. A little pinch or some swipes across the gloves and you get a really creamy lather and it goes a long way. I wouldn't say that they're so moisturizing that you don't need to add lotion but they don't STRIP moisture like the soaps do.
I have had some of the Lush soaps dry out my skin, but I adore Rock Star for when I'm really gross after working out or camping or such. It's creamy, so even though it gives that really squeaky clean feeling, it doesn't dry my skin out as much as other soaps have.
I love the buttercreams, I tend to use them more when I'm in a bath than shower, though. I'll use them to wash up and then let them soak off. I love all of them except for Ring of Roses, but that's mostly just because I'm not at all a fan of floral scents.
I use their soaps for my hands, and for smellier bits (like euph0ra!). For hands, almost anything, for the other bits I use demon in the dark. Occasionally I'll use figs&leaves over my body, and since it's creamier it doesn't dry me out.
Buttercreams... both yay and nay. They're good as a solid alternative to shower gels, and less drying than most of the soaps. But if you "need" lather, probably best avoided! My favourite is Emperor of Ice Cream, the only one I haven't tried is Ring of Roses.
Mermaid Water is one of my favourite LUSH things period! :D I love love love that cocktail.
I've been on a shower gel kick for quite a while now, but I miss my soaps! I tend to use them more in the spring and summer. I actually prefer soaps to shower gels since there's no packaging needed, no preservatives necessary (since they're solid), and less of a chance for bacteria to breed since there's less liquid in them.
I wasn't even aware of soap being bad! Maybe drugstore soaps since they're basically all cleansing agent, but LUSH's are 40%-60% actual ~soap~ and the rest is oils and good stuff. I like the fact that you can get as little or as much fresh cut as you like, so I'd definitely recommend trying them out, at least a tiny bit.
I tend to go more towards the creamy soaps, like Porridge, Sultana, Rockstar, etc. since I find them a bit more moisturising/less harsh.
