From an entertainment site where Mr. Brazleton also posts his comic:

I've had someone comment to me (through my web site) that Downey portraying an actor, portraying a black man actually takes work away from real-life black actors ( Read more... )

Y'know, saying that it took work away from a black actor isn't completely out of left field. They could have hired a black actor to play RDJr in his 'very special make up' or post surgery whatever. Just have RDJr dub all his lines.

Eh, but I'm being a creative negress. Forgive me.

And Tom, he doesn't get why people are offended.

He's like, Not all black people play buffoons. What about Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman?

And the point there, is:

Okay, you have your Handful of Viable Black Actors - Whoopi, That Woman Who Won The Oscar For Monsters Ball, Denzel, and Morgan Freeman.

And you have your buffoons: Chris Tucker, Chris Rock, The Wayanses

And you have your B and C movie types: The black Power Ranger, the Teen Movie black guy, the sitcom black guy.

Sorry. I'm preaching to the choir.
