Well there are probably lots. But the big one right now? Obsessive completism. Where you feel the need to have EVERYTHING (or at least as close as possible) related to your fandom. Books, movies, Burger King toys, etc, etc, etc

If you've never seen "Spenser for Hire," you'll love Avery Brooks in it. Hawk is Sisko when Sisko is acting all bad ass, but he's bad ass all the time! And he's a "black" man in a TV show when TV was generally white washed (except for the Huxtibles).
There are four Spenser for Hire movies available through Netflix (the only four that exist because Robert Urich died after the fourth) and I believe at least the first season of the TV show. If you haven't seen either, I'd definitely start with the TV show before trying the movies out. They're a definite feel that might not appeal to modern sensibilities, but they were f'ing cool in the late 80s/early 90s.
But yes, Netflix is definitely the way to go. Especially if you haven't seen any and only read the book. Books and media are different, you know that.
And Tom Selleck has done at least two Jesse Stone movies for CBS. Possibly three.
Spenser For Hire was a 10PM shown-when-kids-were-supposed-to-be-in-bed show, so no, there weren't toys made, at least as I remember. For me? Saturday was Doctor Who night. And I was into The Equalizer.

Some of the books do go over the top, but overall it's a great series. I recommend Early Autumn as my favorite book.
Also, you might want to read them in order. He does a lot of callbacks to earlier characters. Just a warning...
