There are giant, alien monsters.  And heroicly piloted super-robots punch them in their stupid alien faces.  Plus Idris Elba looks at people sardonically.  What more can you ask for?

It is pretty much the Platonic ideal of a Summer Blockbuster movie.

Not a dang blessed thing.
It promised hot kaiju on mecha action and it gave hot kaiju on mecha action, and it also had a plot and good acting.

Remember Gipsy is analog.
