Even if the police officers *DID* show badges, I'd argue that the Milburns were totally justified in defending themselves. There have been cases where sexual predators have successfully kidnapped children by pretending to be police, so Emily had an excellent reason to believe that the badges weren't real... and any good father is going to fight tooth and nail to protect his daughter from three strangers in plain clothes who are trying to abduct her.
I've been reading more on this case and it is absolutely outrageous. I've contacted Gov. Rick Perry about this case and I urge everyone, even if they are not Texas citizens, to do so.
My LULAC group claims one contact from a citizen is considered equal to the opinion of 1,000 by government officials. I hope that is true...
