Fanfiction: Alone

A/N:  So I was working on back story for Edge as I try to get that massive Nanowrimo’ed manuscript into shape and this little ficlet came to me when I saw wrenskywalker’s prompt for the 2007 K/L ficathon.  I know it’s a rather self-indulgent interpretation of the prompt, but you don’t actually have to have read Edge to understand the story.  I used the second ( Read more... )

A very different take on the end of S3, but a very good one too! I really enjoyed it.

Wow! This was angsty as hell ... ah, our pilots. I'm pretty sure, they don't know how to do much else! But I did love this. You really hit the despair and loneliness and fear of this situation and their last few years apart so well, and in short order. That's a feat!

Any chance there's more of this? I mean, what's more angsty than morning-after fic? :)

Thanks! I'm so glad the emotional impact really came across.

As for a sequel? Don't feed the plot bunny! Although writing a series of backstory shorts as I finish Edge would be fun. We'll have to see.

Oh I agree, a morning-after sequel would be great since Edge is so far in the future...

Very good fic. Interesting that you let them both have kids. Dark and angsty, with a possibility of all kinds of nasty fall-out from this situation, but at least they reconnected. *chooses to see this as hopeful*

Actually, I sort of choose to see the hope too. But I take the long view, the very, very, see you in another ten years, long view.

But yes, there is all sorts of nasty fall out and if you're interested in it, keep looking for when I start posting Edge again.

I've always sort of loved the whole Kara-as-a-mom thing because I see so much capacity for love in Kara mixed with so much capacity to screw things up. And between those two things there's this awesome space to tell stories. It's like the same psychological workings that make her and Lee so interesting make her interesting as a mother. At least that's how I see it.

Thanks for reading!
