Times 1000. I'm adding this to my mental list of fics that people have written to 'fix' the finale, that are my new canon.

This was wonderful. House and Wilson were so very IC. You portrayed Wilson's desperation to get House to stop that car so well, and House's composure when handing Cuddy the brush, then his admission to Wilson later...gorgeous.

"Wilson," House whispered in a small, broken voice Wilson never wanted to hear again. "I think... I think I'm losing it ( ... )

I'm happy you loved it, and even think it a better take on what happened as the original (which, on the other hand, is no big deal) :) The empty shell that Wilson had become in the last season would of course (and did) do nothing but stand like a statue and gape. And House - his credo is "people don't change" and what did he change and in all the wrong directions.

I'm no longer sorry about accidentally pre-empting your response to the chain fic... because it meant that you actually wrote all of this out yourself, and it is the best "fix" for canon that I've read. This is exactly what I think Wilson would have done, and how House should have been, and that scene of Wilson striding across to the driver's side, ripping the door open, and this:

Giving House a last shake before his arms fell into Houses' lap, them a hard pillow for his head as he folded down into himself, panting, feeling as if his chest was bursting, his lungs, his heart all swelling up, breathing up the hot, stale air between their bodies, slowly regaining control. Against the right side of his head House's belly heaved irregularly, his friend's harsh, open mouthed breathing loud in the small space around them.

So. effing. painful and perfect.

oh, really, I never wanted you to feel bad because of that (even it that 500 word piece still sits here on my desktop, laughing at me. It was just the first thing I wrote in a long, long, long time and that smarted as if the gods laughted at me: 'see? Let it be, you moron, you don't have it anymore ( ... )
