We wanted to write our usual essay about the latest episode, House/Wilson and the meaning of love and happiness and world peace-but it became a rant instead and well, yes, we did not like the episode. Here is why: ( 5 to 9 )
I cringed when Cuddy shouted in the lobby. Not only was it unprofessional, but it sounded way too forced...like, not a shout of triumph at all, just...cringe-inducing.
This is a really thoughtful and cogent analysis -- there's a lot to be said for waiting a week before posting a discussion of (or rant about!) an episode.
Really, there's little anyone could add to this. In trying to be everything, Cuddy is rapidly becoming nothing. I liked the character at one time but now she's a vapid idiot.
You are completely right that when it comes down to it, House and Cuddy have absolutely nothing in common so far as lifestyles go. They also have nothing in common so far as intelligence goes. She is in no degree a match for him intellectually, and he needs at least some degree of that match in a relationship. Once the sparkly sexual newness wears off, House will be bored with Cuddy. And what a bored House will do is frightening to contemplate -- at least, it frightens me, and it ought to scare Cuddy shitless. Matters would quickly spiral downhill and out of control; the end of it could only be a disaster on all sides.
Why, why do the writers and producers (including, apparently, Hugh Laurie!) not see this
