short fic: reality

Summary: Just a short little fic. Luke has a nightmare. No spoilers. Fluffy AU.

A/N: I have never written any fic before. EVER. But I was on the train (haha) home and this came to me.
Luke was fast asleep in his room when he heard his name, very softly, almost far away.
He opened his eyes. It took him a minute to recognize the person leaning over him.
"Reid?" he said. It came out in a shaky whisper.
"Who else would be by your bed at this hour?" answered Reid.
Luke sat up and hugged Reid with such force that they both ended up on the bed.
"I thought...you were gone..." sobbed Luke.
"Someone needs his brain examened. Lucky for you, I am the world's best neurosurgeon," said Reid jokingly. After realizing that Luke was inconsolable, Reid began to get worried. "Luke...hey, c'mon, I'm right here. Where else would I be?"
"I thought I lost you." Luke looked at Reid, whose eyes full of concern. His eyes. His eyes were there. Bright and beautiful. His eyes.
Luke's eyes wandered down from his face, to his neck and what little parts of skin were visible and not covered by Reid's scrubs. His skin. So smooth and golden. Luke reached out and touched Reid's face. There was so much he wanted to say, so many questions he wanted to ask, but instead he just said "I love you, Reid. I love you."
"I love you too. How many times do you want me to say it?"
Luke scooted over and patted the bed, motioning for Reid to lay down and join him. Reid laid down next to Luke, turning on his side so he could look at Luke. "Feeling better?"
"A little. Can you do me a favor?"
"Anything."
"Can you take your top off?" Luke asked, with a blush.
Reid sat up and removed his scrub top, threw it on the floor, and laid back down next to Luke. Luke leaned over and pressed his ear to Reid's chest. There it was. Faint, but it was there. Reid's heart. Beating a little faster than normal, but beating. Luke could hear it.
"This wasn't what I had in mind when you asked me to take my top off."
Luke sniffled and laughed quietly and decided that later, maybe in the morning, he would tell Reid about the dream he had. The dream. It was all just a dream.
