Okay, so after reading everyone's thoughts about the subject (thank you, by the way. They were very helpful and overall supportive) and some more discussion with sexyscholar the community now has open membership and all posts are no longer members-only

I went through the same process. My first reaction was to go into safe-mode. Then after reading comments and having time to think, I relaxed.

Thanks for moderating this great community. I don't think we should let others dictate how we conduct ourselves. We've always been open and I hope we continue to be.

That's a very normal reaction...raise up the walls and protect those you love...but I think you made the right decision to lower them again. thanks for looking out for us!

Once again, thank you to the wonderful mods for all you do. While I appreciate and respect the rationale behind the initial decision, I think this is ultimately the best way to go. I'd much rather see this comm be a friendly, welcoming place (especially for new members) open to debate and discussion and, of course, squeeing.

Further thoughts on the matter: I agree with others that there is a major difference between expressing a negative opinion/criticism and bashing. I do my best not to say anything mean about people who hold a different opinion (although sometimes tempers flare!), but as said elsewhere, fictional characters and events in a storyline on a TV show are not real and can't be harmed by my opinion. I also feel that stance can be extended to actors who chose to engage in professional careers in the public limelight and are therefore susceptible to criticism from the audience - and most likely they could care less what I think about them anyway. While I personally would never be rude or disrespectful to their faces (

I feel so out of the loop. I didn't know this wonderful community was under attack. I also thought I had lost my mind or the internet was playing tricks on me that we didn't have any posts yesterday. Thanks for all the hard work the mods put into this community b/c it is a great, wonderful, and inviting community in part to all of your hard work.

Me too! I thought maybe the ladies (& gentlemen?) were busy with RL and didn't have time to review/release new posts.
