I appreciate the heads up! Lol, of course I lost my HBO access Oct 1st, so I'll have to wait patiently until some kind soul uploads it to YouTube. 😜 I'm curious to see the adjustments he made.
I made a few caps and did an Instagram Edit which Van then Stole and reposted on his Instagram
I honestly didn't even bother watching the whole ep I just skimmed through the ep found a handful of his best scene/s and made the caps and went to sleep so I have NOOO idea what his character was doing in the show.
imdb description of "The Deuce" : A look at life in New York City during the 1970s and '80s when porn and prostitution were rampant in Manhattan.
VH is with a character named "Paul" who works as a bartender for James Franco's character. "Paul" is gay and out and is currently in a relationship with a guy who is in the closet. "Paul" appears in each of the 8 episodes in a few scenes in his bartender capacity and often his orientation is part of the storyline. In the scene with VH, we see them outside waiting in line to get into a club. There's a few lines about "Paul's" boyfriend not being there. They enter the club, take some drugs, VH disappears and dancing ensues.
"Paul" is an interesting, if time-limited, character. He got some scenes outside his bartender role in this episode.
This role could be important for VH. It's a David Simon show and he tends to reuse his actors in his next project. Also, "The Deuce" has been picked up for a Season 2. Right now, "Paul" is the only recurring gay character but Simon could decide to explore more of that world in Season 2. I didn't recognize VH on my first viewing which is actually a good thing on a David Simon project.
On a different note, I had also noticed Ralph Macchio (the Karate Kid) in the credits and had to go back and try to find him in a previous episode. He has a small role as one of the plainclothes cops in the episode. In the VH episode, he is in the car that hands the envelope of $$ to the uniformed cops.
