Thanks, lemondrop! This was HUGELY important to me when I first came up with the premise for this story.
I wrote this in my (very lengthy) author's notes post on my blog that I came up with Reid's gift almost immediately, but it took me a LONG time to think about what Luke would give specifically for that reason. He could buy Reid anything, but he wouldn't - because Reid doesn't appreciate the ability to throw one's money around, and because Luke's just not that kind of guy (see his gift to Noah 2009 which included cookies, coffee, and a pair of his socks! - ask me if I wanted to cry for Luke when Noah totally dissed his incredibly sentimental and lovely gift). :(

In all honesty, I'm a jenny-come-lately to all this as well. I think I saw THE KISS a couple of years ago, and have caught bits and pieces of the storyline along the way, but I only went back and watched a lot of Nuke (as in dozens of episodes) after I fell in love with LuRe back in March/April last year
