Reid fell into his barstool. He couldn’t believe that his marathon at Memorial was finally over. Two double shifts back to back needled together by emergency surgery at 3am. The longest thirty-six hours of his life were finally over and he wanted nothing more than a beer, quality beer, hence why he was at the Yo’s and not ripping apart his mini-fridge in his hotel room, before falling asleep.

It was Friday night and he had the whole entire weekend off.

Reid pulled his credit card out of his wallet and slid it on the counter as the bartender approached him.

“Starting a tab?” The bartender questioned. Reid nodded his head as the bartender grabbed his card to file away.

“Whatever’s on tap.” Reid responded. He was just going to have this one beer…maybe two, and then go home and pass out.

The bartender reached for two glasses, each a different size and held them up. Reid didn’t frequent Yo’s that often but when he wanted to get away from the politics of the Lakeview, this was his only option.

“The big one.” Reid said, nodding his head in the direction of the mug. Reid watched as the bartender filled with the cold, amber liquid. The bartender placed the foaming mug in front of Reid, told him to enjoy, before walking over to the next customer.

Reid wasted no time, he wrapped his hand around the frothy mug and took a large swig, allowing the icy liquid to slide down his throat. This was exactly what he needed. He could already feel the tension in his shoulder waning. His fingers relaxing after tedious hours of surgery.

Reid took another gulp before finally placing the mug down, a good third of it already vacant.

“You know, you shouldn’t be drinking alcohol after being awake for so long.” Bob said tenderly as he placed a hand on Reid’s shoulder causing him to jump.

“Jesus Christ Bob, you can’t just sneak up on somebody like that. Especially one that you believe to be sleep deprived.” Reid said, before reaching towards his mug to take another sip. Reid diverted his eyes away from the older doctor to concentrate on his beer. After being in the hospital for almost two straight days the last thing he wanted to talk about was work, or his lack of sleep caused by work.

Bob pulled the bar stool out next to Reid and sat down.

“And now your sitting down.” Reid said rolling his eyes, still not looking at him.

“All I’m saying is, you’re tired. Go home and get some sleep.” Bob said calmly, ignoring Reid’s rudeness.

“That’s the plan.” Reid replied as he finished the mug, placing it hard down on the counter gathering the bartenders attention. Reid up-nodded and the bartender came over and grabbed the mug, refilling it and handing it back to Reid.

“You know…” Bob started but Reid cut him off.

“Nothing. There is absolutely nothing out there that says having a couple beers after being awake is quote unquote ‘bad’ for you” Reid stated. “There is speculation but no real hard scientific or medical facts to prove it.”

“Ok, ok.” Bob said.

Reid looked at Bob and it was at that moment when he wondered what the older man was even doing there. It was almost 10:30, he should be at home with his wife watching basic cable.

“Look.” Reid said as he took another long sip of his beer. “I’m fine, why don’t you go home and relax. You’ve been awake almost as long as I have.” It was the best apology Reid could come up with for being an ass a few minutes ago. He took another sip of his beer and pulled out his blackberry. He quickly texted Katie about how annoying Bob was being. He realized that texting Katie while semi-apologizing sort of defeated the purpose but whatever, he sometimes was a Grinch.

Bob was just about to say something when Reid cut him off again.

“Or you could join me for a drink.” Reid was already kicking himself before he even finished. He didn’t know what was coming over him. He was bouncing between Dallas Reid and Oakdale Reid and he didn’t like it one bit.

“Thanks for the offer, but you’re right, Kim is probably waiting for me to come home.” Bob put a tight grip on Reid’s shoulder as he hopped off the barstool. “Last one?”

“Of course.” Reid said as he took another sip, holding his mug up as if to toast Bob and watched as he promptly left the bar.

Reid felt his phone buzz in his pocket to see that Katie had responded, telling him that he should suck it up because Bob actually cares about him. He took a sip of his beer before placing it on the counter and texting her back.

[Care…Shmare…]

[Real mature]

Reid smirked at Katie’s response. He hated that he had a best friend, but sometimes he was thankful that it was Katie and not somebody like Paul Ryan.

Reid quickly finished the last quarter of his beer. He placed the empty mug on the counter. He pulled his blackberry out and started scrolling through his emails, to see what he had missed while in surgery.

His inbox had just loaded when the bartender came back over to him, inturrpting his thought.

“Another one?” The bartender asked. Reid knew that he probably should have said yes right there. He glanced back down at his phone, contemplating, even though he knew what he should have said. He noticed that the last email that he received was from Luke Snyder and the email was labeled REALLY IMPORTANT PLEASE DON”T DELETE RE: Hospital plans.

Fuck.

“Yeah, I’ll have another.”

Reid thought about deleting the message just to piss the blonde off but decided against it and slipped his phone back into his pocket. He shouldn’t be making decisions while drinking.

The bartender came back a couple minutes later, as the bar was getting more crowded as the Friday night went on. Reid grabbed the mug and took another sip. He looked around the bar and as he was turning his head was when he realized that he looked kind of pathetic sitting by himself and he was feeling pretty tipsy and he wanted somebody to enjoy it with. He pulled his phone out and texted his best drinking partner.

[get hank to baby sit and come meet me here]

He got a response almost immediately.

[on my way. baby with margo.]

That was fast, Reid thought. He knew that Katie had been over at Margo’s all day long wedding planning. He could only imagine since she was still there that she probably needed a strong drink as much as he needed on.

Before Reid had even known it he was finishing his third drink. He placed his empty mug in the space in front of him and got up to go to the bathroom. When he came back, his mug was full and Katie was sitting by his coat.

“M’lady” Reid said as he plopped down next to her.

“Oh my god, I love it.” Katie said as he drink order arrived. Reid took one look at the neon blue drink and scoffed. “What? It’s really good.”

“Surrre” Reid said with a goofy grin. “So how’s the wedding planning going.”

“You know, you don’t look it, but you really are so gay.” Katie said

“Shut up, it’s actually going on in your life right now. It’s not like this is just a random conversation.”

“It’s going to be beautiful.” Katie said with a wide grin. Reid still couldn’t figure out how she was in love with that oaf of a man. But whatever. “And how was that extra surgery?”

“Textbook.” Reid watched as Katie quickly sucked down her first drink, ordering another one.

The both continued to laugh and talk and drink their drinks. Reid liked that he actually got to relax when he was around Katie and for some reason Katie actually liked his company.

Not to mention, hanging out with her allowed his mind not to wander.

“You know what?”

“What?” Katie said giggling.

“One word. One syllable.”

“Tell me!” Katie practically shrieked before giggling again.

“Shots.” Reid said looking at her dead in the eyes. Or at least he thinks he was looking straight at her.

“Oh my god! Yes! This reminds me of college!” Katie said throwing her arms up in the air, trying to get the bartender’s attention.

“What can I get you?” He asked

Katie looked at Reid.

“Tequila.” Reid said deadpan

“Tequila!” Katie said to the bartender. They both watched as he grabbed two shot glasses and filled them up, almost over flowing. He set them down gently in front of them before reaching under the bar and grabbing them two limes and the salt shaker.

Reid licked his hand and dumped some salt on the corner of his thumb and forefinger before handing it to Katie who did the same.

“Bottoms up.” Katie giggled out. Reid held up his shot and they gingerly cheered their shot glasses together before taking the plunge. They both immediately reached for their lime, sucking hard on them, cutting the aftershock.

Katie looked up and started laughing.

“You know. If you weren’t gay.”

“And if you weren’t getting married…or if you were a guy.”

They both smiled, they loved their friendship. Reid was probably the only person she liked to drink with. They were definite opposites but that is why they worked.

“Speaking of getting married…” Katie said trailing off. She reached for her blackberry and started scrolling through her contacts before placing her phone up to her ear.

“Heyyyy baby.” Katie slurred and Reid just rolled his eyes. “I was wondering if you could pick me up.”

“Oh god.” Reid said shaking his head. He could not believe that Katie had called Chris, in front of him, for a booty call.

“something is always in it for you sweeeetie.” Katie said, obviously trying to be sexy. “love you.” Katie said before ending the call.

“That was disgusting.” Reid said.

“Don’t be jealous.”

“Yeah, jealous that you get to sleep with Doogie, I’m just seething with jealously.”

Katie let the snide comment slide, she knew that Reid was just sexually frustrated.

“Let’s do another shot.” Katie said wanting to cheer him up.

“Won’t you be leaving soon?”

“So?”

“Fine.”

Again they flagged down the bartender and got another tequila shot. This one had definitely solidified both their intoxicatedness. It also made Reid forget that he was supposed to be mad at Katie as she quickly left the bar to meet Chris outside.

She had offered to let Chris give him a ride back to the Lakeview but Reid wasn’t quite ready to go home and go to sleep by himself. He did that every night.

Reid got off his stool and went into the crowded bathroom. He decided that while he was waiting in line that he would get a cab and go back to the hotel. He looked at his watch, it was almost 1am. His uncle had always told him that nothing good happens after 1am.

On his way back to his stool was when he noticed the group of guys who had come in while he was in the bathroom. They were standing near his stool and as he got closer he finally realized who they were.

“Dr. O!” Casey Hughes yelled upon spotting Reid. Reid tried to remain in character as he looked at the group who all looked pretty drunk as well, except for Luke and when their eyes met he couldn’t help but smile.

Fuck.

“What’s up doc?” Casey laughed, clearly just as drunk as he looked.

Reid laughed at the joke. God he must be drunker than he thought, especially if he was laughing at a joke from Casey Hughes.

“Celebrating being done with work.” Reid said as he reached for his mug which still had a bit of beer left.

“Long surgery?” Luke asked

“Very long.” Reid smirked.

“Ok. I just can’t keep it in anymore” Casey practically burst out saying

“Oh lord.” One of Casey’s unknown friend said

“I’m getting married!” Casey yelled to the whole bar, which warranted an applause and cheering.

“Celebratory shots?” Reid suggested

“Hell yeah man!” Casey said high-fiving the doctor.

Reid quickly counted around the group and then ordered five shots. Four for Casey and his friends minus Luke and one for himself.

“To the old ball and chain.” Another anonymous friend said. They all raised their shots and took them, each making a face afterwards. Reid set his shot down and looked up to see Luke staring at him. They were across from each other and Reid moved so that he was now standing next to the blonde.

“Hey.” Luke said and Reid could detect that it was probably hard for him to be around all his friends while they were all drinking. Reid had read Luke’s file and he knew all about the transplant and addiction.

“Hey.” Reid said back. Now that he was closer and his vision wasn’t as blurry he couldn’t deny how hot Luke looked tonight. Tight jeans, forest green deep v t-shirt, bedroom hair.

Fuck.

Reid may or may not have intentionally graze his hand across Luke’s back.

“Who are these guys?” Reid asked, getting in closer, practically whispering into Luke’s ear.

Luke didn’t let either the touching or the closeness go unnoticed.

“That” Luke said leaning into Reid a bit, so he could hear him of course, not for any other reason, “That is John, Casey met him in…um…jail. But he’s a really nice guy.”

“I’m sure he is.”

“That next to John is Peter. Peter was Casey’s roommate in college.”

“I thought you were going to say Jail again, and everybody knows what a roommate in jail really means.”

“Reid.” Luke said as he turned towards the doctor.

“I’m kidding.”

“And on the other side of Casey is Chase.”

“Another “roommate”?” Reid said making air quotes.

“Chase is Casey’s friend from childhood who just happened to be in town tonight.”

Reid just grinned widely at Luke.

Reid continued to talk with the group, laughing and hanging out. For some reason tonight he didn’t care about much of anything. He felt carefree and young and goddamnit he was having a good time even if it was with a bunch of drunk twenty-somethings.

“Hell yeah I love this song!” Casey all of a sudden blurted out. That seemed to be a habit with the janitor.

All the four of them excluding Luke went out to go dance, clearly the alcohol was having an effect on all of them.

Luke looked at Reid.

“I have to make a quick phone call.”

“Ok.”

Reid made his way towards the door where it was more quiet. He didn’t know why he had a sudden urge to call Katie, probably subconsciously wanting to break up whatever she was doing with Doogie.

“Please leave a message….BEEEEP”

“Kattieeeee” Reid slurred, although in his head it sounded perfectly normal. He watched as Luke joined his friends on the dance floor who were now dancing with a group of girls. “You are missing the bachelor party. Come back!” His eyes watched Luke as Luke started to dance with his friend.

Clearly the best dancer out of all of them because he was sober…right.

Reid put his blackberry back into his pocket and started to make his way towards the group. Luke kept dancing and he looked so hot just moving to the music and singing to the lyrics. But when Luke caught Reid coming back over he stopped.

“Don’t stop on my account.” Reid said. Fuck he was drunk.

“I didn’t” Luke said smirking before starting to dance again.

Their sexual tension was at an all time high.

“Good.” Reid said as he leaned into Luke’s ear, Luke’s back still towards him.

Luke then stopped almost immediately.

Reid was caught off guard as Luke grabbed his hand and started to drag him towards the wall near the back. Luke went back against the wall and he gave a tug on Reid’s hand pulling him closer to him, still keeping Reid’s hand in his own.
Luke wasted no time and leaned forward kissing Reid. The culmination of many months of blackmail, long board meetings, impromptu planning sessions, and a one time accidental night of babysitting Jacob.

Reid gave into the kiss immediately and it went from tame to full blown make out in just a matter of second. Luke finally pulled away and he was slightly panting, almost unbelieving what he had just down.

Reid focused his eyes and Luke looked so fucking sexy. His mouth was slightly agape as if he wanted to say something, apologize, or have Reid kiss him again.

Reid untangled his hand from Luke’s and pushed the blonde up against the wall, one hand placed firmly against the wall for support, the other on Luke’s side pushing his shirt up, just slightly.

Luke loved that Reid tasted like tequila and it only made him kiss the doctor harder. It was like they were in the own world, with nobody around. This moment had been building up for such a long time, and neither one would have guessed that it would have been tonight.

Reid was surprised at how good of a kisser Luke was. His lips were soft yet they moved like a pro and those lips were currently on the side of his neck.

“Fuck, you’re so hot” Reid said as he turned his head enough to whisper into Luke’s ear. Luke’s lips left the side of his neck and he pulled back, practically blushing like a fool.

“Doctor Oli…” Luke started but couldn’t finish as Reid immediately reconnected their lips.

Reid almost couldn’t handle Luke calling him Doctor Oliver. They way he had said it was beyond sexy and definitely not in the tone it had been used the first few months they knew each other.

--

Last call was called and the lights in the bar slowly turned on.

“Where is Luke?” Casey said looking around, trying to find his friend who had been absent for almost an hour.

“Dude, he’s over there.” Chase said, pointing to the far back wall, where Reid had Luke pushed hard up against the wall.

“ ‘Bout time that happened.” Casey laughed. His three friends looked at him, wanting to be filled in. “They’ve been after each other since like day one.”

“Dude what are you doing?” Chased asked as he watched Peter pull his phone out.

“Just making a little movie to show Luke later.” Peter said as he made a quick little video of his new friend Luke making out with the doctor.

“I’ll go tell them we’re leaving.” John said. He quickly walked over through the mass of people trying to leave. He also knew the perfect way to get them to pull apart having some left over ‘party supplies’ still in his pocket.

“WE”RE LEAVING!” John announced as he threw a handful of glitter on them.

“What the f-” Reid started but Luke kissed his quiet.

“Come on you two love birds.” John said as he started to walk back over to the guys who were swaying to themselves.

Luke intertwined his hand with Reid’s and started to pull him towards the guys waiting for them.

The group left the bar and Luke and Reid walked behind the four other guys. Reid was trying to walk as straight as possible but his shoulders kept hitting Luke’s and each time it happened Luke would look at him and smile which would then cause Reid to stop walking and pull Luke closer to him, and their make-out would pick right up where it left off.

Casey and friends who had been walking in front noticed that he couldn’t hear their footsteps. They stopped and turned around to see that Luke and Reid were a good 100 meters behind them, making out.

“GUYS, COME ON!” Casey yelled

Luke pulled away, biting on the bottom of Reid’s lip before giving him a sheepish smile.

Reid was wondering to himself who both had waited this long to act their flirtatious efforts. Because making out with Luke was starting to rank pretty high on his list of favorite things.

“Coming!” Luke called and he regrabbed Reid’s hand and they quickly met up with the guys.

“For that you guys get this.” John said while throwing glitter all over everybody.

“Dude, seriously, you’ve been doing this all night. I’ll never be able to get it off”

Luke just laughed into Reid’s chest as the other boys continued to yell at John.

“I have an idea.” Casey finally said as they started to walk. “We’re going to the Lakeview anyways let’s just jump in the pool. That will get all the glitter off.”

And in their drunk minds that seemed like a really good idea.

The six of them crept around to the back so that they could use the outdoor pool. The weather was nice and they didn’t want to have to walk through the front lobby. Not to mention is was almost 2:30 in the morning.

They were finally at the gate, Casey tried to open it but it was locked.

“Fuck, there goes my amazing great plan.” Casey said, looking upset.

“Shut up dude, I got this.” Chase said. He started shaking the gate trying to get it wide enough so they could slide through.

“They’ll never get it opened.” Reid said to Luke

“In that case, we don’t need to waste any time.” Luke said grabbing a handful of Reid’s shirt and pushing his body into his, kissing him.

Luke had Reid up against the gate and his head was tilted back at Luke continued to suck on his neck while running his hands up his chest.

It took the guys almost ten minutes to realize that they were participating in Operation Get Pool Gate Opened.

“Seriously dude.” Casey said

Luke back up off Reid and pulled his own bottom lip into his mouth in an apology to Reid for his friend.

“Fuck, I really wanted to swim.” Peter said

“And get this fucking glitter off.” Casey added

“Move.” Reid said as he pushed John who was currently trying to get it opened. Reid inspected the lock and it was almost as if a light bulb went off in his head. It was probably because he was drunk that he remembered that there was a small spring that you could press to get this particular lock open.

“Have a bobby pin?” Reid asked looking at Luke.

“Very funny.” Luke said

“I have a safety pin.” Casey said as he undid a safety pin holding a hole in his shirt closed.

“That’ll work.” Reid said as he grabbed it. Then, using his expertly skilled hands he was able to push the tiny spring and the lock instantly came undone.

“Wow, you really are a genius.” Casey said in drunk admiration. “I am officially in love with you.”

“You’re the best man.”

“Awesome.”

“Yessss”

The boys quickly went through the gate and ripped their shirts off over their heads and stripping down to their boxers before jumping into the water.

“Holy fuck it’s freezing.” John yelled

“It’s you’re fault we are even in the pool.” Peter shouted back before swimming over to John and trying to dunk him.

Which then caused an all out war between the four boys.

Luke swam over to Reid who was standing near the shallow end. His eyes half open, clearly still really drunk. Luke couldn’t help himself as he stood up in front of the doctor and kissed him.

“Mmmm, you know you’re cute.” Reid said as he pulled away.

Luke let his hands run though Reid’s hair watching some of the glitter fall into the pool. He knew that Reid was drunk but what was that saying, a drunk man’s words are a sober man’s thoughts.

“So are you.” Luke said in response before kissing him again.

Their kissing had slowed down, the first wave of lust gone, as their mouths were familiar with each other and neither was scared that the other was going to pull away at any moment.

Luke was letting Reid have his way with his mouth as he let Reid massage his tongue and bite on his lower lip. He couldn’t help but moan any time that Reid was push into him or suck or nip or kiss him in some unexpected way.

To put it lightly, Reid was very experienced, and Luke was loving every second of it.

Luke had never pictured the harsh, brash, rude, crude, yet brilliant doctor be this passionate of a kisser. Although, he wasn’t as surprised as he thought he would be.

Luke could hear the splishing and splashing had settled down and then he could hear the other boys getting out of the pool.

“Should we just leave them here?” Luke heard Peter ask

“No, Luke is staying in the suite with us.”

Reid pulled away from the kiss and looked at Luke, his lips were red and tender.

“I have a room here, you could…”

“I’m staying with Reid.” Luke called out, not even bothering to look at the group.

None of the boys responded as they gathered their things and made their way towards the back entrance of the hotel. Just as they were entering into the hotel, Luke overheard on of the guys saying extra loud to ‘get it’, causing him to laugh into the kiss.

“Good choice.” Reid said into Luke’s lips.

“Was there any other.” Luke said, smirking, and allowing Reid to kiss his smile.

They staying the pool for only a couple minutes longer before hopping out and grabbing their stuff. Reid grabbed a towel and wrapped it around his waist as best he could. But his best as sloppy because he could barely walk straight, hold his clothes, and keep a towel on.

Maybe Bob was right.

They quickly made it into the elevator.

“What floor?”

Reid racked his brain for a moment, laughing at not being able to remember.

“My key, it’s in my pocket.” Reid said tossing his pants to Luke. Luke dug through Reid’s pockets pulling out his wallet and the key was right in the front.

“640” Luke said aloud while hitting the 6 button

“Right. 640.” Reid said laughing.

Luke was practically in awe at how human Reid had been acting all night. He liked this side of Reid. A lot.

Luke practically dragged Reid towards the room because the doctor was having so much trouble walking. Reid was laughing which caused Luke to laugh and fumble with the key to the door.

“Don’t worry about that.” Reid said, pushing Luke up against the door, kissing him hard.

And for another five minutes neither one of them cared about getting the door opened.

“Come on Reid, let’s do this inside.” Luke said as he turned back around and finally getting the door opened.

“Right, I am kind of tired. I’ve been awake for like 40 hours.”

They didn’t even bother to turn on the lights. Reid pulled his phone out of his pocket using it as a light. He dropped his towel and he pulled his jeans back on, because at the time it seemed like the best option.

“Tired.” Reid said again as now the drunk was really kicking in along with the lack of sleep and now the darkness. He pulled the comforter on the bed back and climbed in. He pulled back the second half and Luke crawled in next to him.

Reid leaned over and what he wanted to just be an innocent good night kissed turned into more making out as he pulled Luke on top of him.

When they both finally said good night it was almost 3:30, well past Reid’s normal post-surgery, double-shift bed time.

----

Reid stirred in his hotel bed. He could already tell that it was mid-morning due to the copious amount of sunlight coming into the room. He brought his hand up to his forehead. His head was pounding and he was shirtless but still in the pants that he had worn out the night before.

What the fuck happened last night?
