Author’s Notes: Sorry it has been a long time from when I was posting FF. I have been really busy I just went to an acting workshop and been dealing with school and finding a job, but I am back now, I hope you enjoy!!

Reid had to go to the Hospital Ball. Reid hated going to these events, but this year he has Luke so maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as years past. Luke loved getting dressed up, and it is even better since Reid finally agreed he would be coming as well. Luke kind of force Reid, but it didn’t take long before Reid gave in.
Luke came through the door and had two tuxedos in his arms. Reid came from the bedroom where he had his backpack in his hands.
“OH don’t tell me.” Reid said glaring at what Luke was holding in his hands.
Luke looked at what he was holding “Reid, you knew tonight was the night of the ball. It was even on the calendar in big, red, marker.”
“I know, I know. But why do I have to have a penguin tux?” Reid replied
Luke just looked at him.
Luke put the tuxes over the couch and walked to the kitchen to get some water. Reid walked to the table and finished his work. Luke watched some TV on low, while Reid worked. Reid was working quickly to get his stuff finished before they left. If he waited to finish after the Ball, he was not going to be in the mood.
After about 10 minutes, Luke looked at Reid working at the table. Luke got up and turned off the TV. Luke came over and kissed Reid on the back of the head.
“I hate paper work.” Reid said as he rubbed his eyes.
“It will be worth it, once you get it all done.” Luke replied. Reid didn’t buy that. However, he liked the idea that once he was done with it and the Ball tonight, they could have some alone time, that he would be in the mood for.

It was about three hours later and both Reid and Luke got dressed in their tuxes. Luke finished first, and watches Reid runing around because it took him forever to finish his paper work, which Luke thinks he did on purpose so they would have to be late. Reid looked funny all nervous and flushed. Reid was in such a rush he had trouble getting his tie tied.
“Hurry up!” Luke yelled, as nicely as he could, in more of an encouragement sort of way.
“I can’t tie my tie Luke!”
“Calm down! Let me help!” Luke helped Reid with his tie.
Luke and Reid were running late to the Ball. Luke opens the door and holds it open while Reid ran past. Luke just rolls his eyes, while mumbling “Reid...” They run down to their car and get in. Under Luke’s better judgment he lets Reid drive. If Reid had his way, he would have driven under the speed limit the whole way.
The Ball has already started and everyone is inside. The valet takes the keys from Reid and pulls away while Reid and Luke hold hands and start to walk into the hall. They tell the person who has the list of people who they are and the girl lets them in. Reid and Luke walk into the huge Ball Room.
There are table, a Bar, a Dance floor in the middle, and a stage on the other side. Part of the bar has a table full of food, which gets Reid’s attention, as he walks towards it. Luke pulls him back and suggests that they mingle first then eat since we are late. Reid gives Luke a glare, he hates making small talk with people. While walking around together, Luke and Reid meet Katie and Chris. Luke hugs Katie then Reid hugs Katie, Chris shakes hands with Luke and Reid, Chris and Reid have not been on the best of terms as of late, but they are staying on their best behavior tonight.
Reid asked Luke if he can get food now, Luke lets him go. Luke resumes talking to Katie and Chris.
Reid goes and gets food while this older looking man comes up and talks to Reid. He asked him a bunch of questions about the neurology wing. Reid thought to himself. How does he know so much, unbeknown to Reid he was talking to the CEO of Invictas. Reid had never met him before. Reid is enjoying talking to him; he is actually not as much of an idiot and above most of his standards of somebody he would actually waste his time talking to.
Just as Reid thought he might actually have a good time tonight, Mona comes over and joins in. Reid hates her, and she is the one who broke up Reid and Luke, thankfully Invictas' powers that be don't believe the same as Mona. Mona was not the biggest fan of Reid’s too. She told the CEO that he needed to talk to some other people who are more important than Reid.
Reid gave her the angriest look ever.
Luke walks over to Reid and asked who the guy was, Reid told him he didn’t know but he knew a lot about the neurology wing. Luke thought he saw him before it took Luke a second to realize that Reid was talking to the CEO. Reid was shocked at that fact. The CEO was actually smart and had knowledge on the subject and Reid could hold a decent conversation with him.
After awhile the CEO was on stage and told everyone what is going to happen to the hospital, there was a lot of rumors that different things were going to happen, so he needed to straighten them out. He told the crowd that Dr. Oliver and Dr. Hughes impressed him with their ideas about the hospital.
They clapped for them, Mona was not happy when the CEO said Reid’s name. She had been giving Reid the hardest time at the hospital now that she was running it making sure money is going to the right places. To her, Reid is not doing the right things; he is spending too much money. Reid even told her off the other day and said “YOU WANT PEOPLE TO DIE?!” Mona didn’t have a response to his demand and she left. She was still holding a grudge for Reid’s outburst at her in the hospital the other day, especially because it was in front of other people.
The CEO ending with telling the crowd to all have fun and enjoy the night. The music started playing and people began to dance. Most of them were not the best dancers in the world but they all had fun. Reid looked over and saw that Chris and Katie dancing together. Reid asked Luke if he wanted to dance, Luke looked at him like “ME” and Reid put down the food and took Luke’s hand and they made their way to the dance floor. No one cared they were dancing together but Mona.
Mona and the CEO were talking and even murmured about them dancing, Luke and Reid where laughing and having fun. Holding hands dancing, Reid was a better slow dancer then a fast one. The rhythm was about medium. The CEO watch them dance and didn’t have a problem with them dancing, he told Moan “Their together, who cares!” Mona did not like that answer, but didn’t say anything to upset her boss.
Mona got Luke away from Reid for a while because she told Luke they needed to discuss “business”. Reid was more than a little ticked off (and so was Luke). Luke begrudgingly left with Mona. Reid took off to the balcony eating food.
Even Chris was not happy.
“They promised no business talk tonight.” He told Katie over the loud music.
Katie saw how sad Reid seemed alone outside and she ran to get Luke. Chris followed behind her.
“Luke, your guy is waiting.” Katie said, while motioning with her eyes that Reid was on the balcony alone. She gave a small smile to Mona and the CEO.
“We are done, I just needed to get Luke’s approval on something to get it out on time.” The CEO responded. Luke thanked everyone, Katie, Chris, the CEO and Mona, before he ran out onto the balcony to get Reid.
They talked and then they hugged and came back inside. People were sitting at a tables eating some food after dancing. Reid and Luke sat down to eat with Katie and Chris.
After about an hour or so, Mona came back and said, “I need to talk to you Luke.”
Luke turned and looked at her like, “ARE YOU FOR REAL”.
Reid got upset and started to get angry, he yelled at Mona which turned off the music and made everyone look, “Are you kidding me?! I am trying to have a nice date with my boyfriend and all you do is butt-in where you’re not wanted! Get over yourself and move on, lady!”
Mona looked at Reid knowing everyone was watching, she told him “Reid, you get out of here, you’re fired!”
“Back off.” Luke said as he got up. He was staring straight at Mona.
“Troubles coming” Chris whispered into Katie’s ear. Katie gave him a nudge.
“Look you have been giving me shit for the past month and now you’re trying to get in the middle of our date, what is up with you, you hate me or something? What did I ever do you?!” Reid yelling at Mona.
“You skills are no longer wanted here” Mona said without blinking an eye.
Reid, without a snappy comeback just left.
Mona looked pleased. Chris and Katie looked shocked.
“Reid, wait!” Luke called out as Reid passed him. He looked at Mona, “Look Mona, you’re stupid. You just let go the best thing that ever happen to this hospital!”
“Hey!” Chris interjected. Luke gave a glare at Chris to say, "Now is not the time."
“Your money is no longer wanted” Mona said looking straight at Luke, ignoring Chris’ outburst. Luke was puzzled. Luke just shook his head and walked out.
Reid got the car. Reid was about to get in it when Luke showed up.
“Reid wait!” Luke was out of breathe.
Reid and Luke got into the car and Reid sped away.
“Reid, I’m so sorry for what happened.” Luke said, he could see how upset Reid was.
“Luke, it wasn’t your fault, it was that Bitch Mooonnnnaaa” Reid made a goofy face as he said her name which made Luke smile.
“What happened?” The CEO asked when he came back into the ball. Chris told him what happened. Chris may not be Reid’s BFF, but Chris and Reid will stick up for one another if and when they need to. The CEO was shocked at Mona. He had not told Mona to do that. Both Chris and Katie looked at each other.
“Wait you didn’t tell Mona to fire Reid and let Luke go as a donor?” Katie asked.
“NO! Reid is a special kind of doctor. Luke has made funding for this hospital easy from his boyish style.” The CEO answered.
“Wait your ok with them dating?!” Chris had to ask
“Sure” the CEO said, “Why wouldn’t I, Luke made it clear to me that his funding has nothing to do with Reid. He wants to make sure the hospital stays up and running the best it can. Thanks to Luke, we were able to add on a new Children’s Wing. Luke told me he has a soft heart for children, Chris you’re a pediatrician you should be happy about it.”
Chris blushed and didn't know what to say.
Reid and Luke got home and Reid took off his penguin tux, just leaving him walking around in his boxers. Luke just took off his jacket. Reid went into the kitchen and immediately grabbed a beer from the fridge. Reid fell onto the couch and drank it fast; in hope, he could get drunk and sleep the night away.
Luke was not happy with how the night ended up; he was hoping it would be special for Reid. Reid finished his beer and told Luke he was going to go to bed. Luke stayed in the living room for a while, disappointed. Suddenly his pants vibrated and Luke’s phone was going off, it was the CEO.
The CEO called Luke, apologized to him and Reid, and asked if they would come back. Luke asked about Mona, and the CEO said she was the one behind everything and that she was fired right after everything happened. Luke light up. Luke thanked the CEO and then closed his phone and ran in their bedroom to tell Reid the good news. Reid was sprawled out on the bed. Almost took the breath out of Luke when he rushed in. Luke told Reid about everything. He could tell Reid was happy about the news.
Luke was sitting on side of the bed, and Reid all excited, kissed Luke hard. Luke let Reid pull him down and they started to make out heavy. Luke wanted this night to be special but hadn’t even thought about making love.
“Luke...do you want to be with me tonight?”
“Reid...you sure, I don’t want you feel like because we got good news...”
“Luke...I love you, I want you forever, and good new, bad news, whatever happens will not change how I love you”
That made Luke smile and Reid leaned in again slowly to kiss Luke.
They made passionate love.
The next day everything at the hospital changed the doctors and nurses and the other staff where all happier without Mona barking at them to do this and that. Reid even for one day took it a little easier on the staff and nurses.
