SORRY FOR THE DELAY IN GETTING THIS UP GUYS....HOPE IT'S WORTH THE WAIT :-)
He kept glancing up, each and every time someone walked towards him, for even though he had told him not to come to the hospital, even though he had specifically said to him that he'd be too busy to see him, half of him, well no, actually, more accurately 99.9% of Reid hoped that Luke would, as usual, ignore his requests and come and see him anyway, the other 0.01% was also half divided but was also leaning more towards the idea that Luke should definitely visit, so really it was technically 100%. OK OK, so it was definitely 100% of Reid that wanted to see Luke, but don’t anyone tell Reid that as he’s completely in denial.
He would stand in the corridor, tapping his pen against his papers on his clipboard and every movement that caught in his eyes, each time an orderly, a patient, fellow doctor or visitor walked in his general direction he would look up expecting it to be Luke but it wasn't, returning his attention to the precision tapping of his pen against the paper.
He tried to think through in his head exactly what Luke would be doing now; his plane had landed over two hours ago so he would have definitely gotten to his house by now, knowing Luke he probably would have wanted to unpack first, Reid looked at his watch, he should have done that ages ago....where is he? Not that it matters, Reid thought, I’ve got tonnes of work to do anyway, he’ll be a distraction, I’ll just see him when I get home, it’ll be fine, it was only after he’d repeated that mantra a few times that he realised he’d snapped his pen in half as he’d been gripping onto it too tightly, thinking of Luke Snyder.
He felt a soft tug on his right shoulder, someone behind him "Reid?" it was his chief of staff Dr Harris" How are you getting on, are you still on schedule to leave this Friday, the party is all set."
Reid turned and feigned a light smile; he was dreading this leaving party, a joint party for him and three other members of staff who were all leaving within the next three weeks, at least now with Luke being there he'd have some company, someone who could deflect all the small talk away from him, if he was well enough that was, Reid thought.
"Yes, yes, everything is still on track, I'm glad you caught me because I actually needed to discuss...." he stopped mid sentence because he saw him, standing further down the corridor, he hadn't noticed Reid, he had his hands buried deep in his jeans pocket, wearing a tight fitting T-shirt, showing Reid that he was still not putting on weight...."excuse me.......can I catch up with you a bit later, I've just seen someone who needs my complete attention."
"Sure, I'll be in my office for the rest of the day" he replied tugging on Reid's arm and leaving in the direction he had come in. He didn't wait for John to leave completely, rushing over to Luke, who was still wandering the corridor, looking a little lost, stopping now to read the map on the wall, reading it, getting directions, Reid smiled inwardly, for all the times Luke had been here, having now walked in through a different entrance he was clearly completely lost, OK so this hospital was bigger than Oakdale, but it’s not difficult Luke, Reid thought.
Reid walked quietly up behind him, stopping when he was standing close, so they were almost touching, he blew on Luke’s neck, which caused Luke to slap his hand at his own skin, swatting away as if he thought it were a fly, continuing to look at the map, getting directions. Reid moved his head to the other side and blew again, once more Luke hit at his own neck, Reid stifling, although difficult, a laugh before he could resist no longer, hugging his arms tightly around Luke and kissing at his neck from behind, Luke hoping to god that it was Reid and not some escaped mental health patient. Luke turned briefly to catch a glimpse of Reid’s face before he felt a tug on his left hand, turning him around completely, almost toppling with the force of the grab, but he didn't mind, Reid could grab him with as much force as he wanted.
There was no greeting exchanged, no words spoken, Reid walking, correction, running him along the corridor a little, turning a handle on a door further down, opening it quickly, shoving Luke inside, into the darkness, his foot stumbling into something as he walked in backwards, turning his head slightly, seeing the object from the faint light from the corridor, he realised he'd stepped into a mop bucket, but again he didn't care, all he cared about right now was Reid, who hastily walked in front of Luke, closing the door behind them, thrusting them both into complete darkness.
He felt Reid's lips against his own, how he had found them Luke didn't know, because he couldn’t see a thing, maybe from continued practical experience Reid now knew where Luke's lips should be without even having to think about it. Luke leaned inwards, pushing his lips firmer against Reid's own, taking his now wet foot out of the bucket and walking them forward in the darkness, walking until Reid's arse hit the door with a bump.
"
missed
you" Luke breathed out.
"Mmm" Reid replied, taking his hand up in the blackness, reaching out to touch Luke's hair, running it slowly through his strands "You've been some time..."
"You told me not to come." Luke smiled and then gently caressed his lips against the side of Reid’s neck; he knew Reid would have been expecting him, even though he’d said not to.
"Since when do you listen to me? We both knew that wasn't going to happen, what've you been doing?" Reid asked as arched his head backwards as Luke slid his tongue along his adams apple and he tangled his hands into Luke’s hair, still both in darkness.
"Un-packing"
"and.."
"Hiring a car”
“and”
“Nothing else..."
"I'm not stupid Luke, you've been looking around my house "Luke went to open his mouth to protest, but Reid kissed his lips shut before saying "It's fine I'd have done the same thing if I'd been alone in your house, did you find your present?
Luke gulped "I...I...It's for me?"
"Who else?"
"I don't know, I assumed you already had it, but just not used it."
"No" Reid replied, shaking his head, now turning them around and pushing Luke into the door "I only bought it two days ago, was going to surprise you with it next week, I purposely put it in that drawer, knowing that you'd look in there."
"I was only looking for somewhere to put my clothes.”
"Yeah! I don't buy that Luke." Suddenly a thought hit Reid, a terrible thought, how could he have been so stupid "Err... Did you look in any other drawers; you know to look for somewhere else to put your clothes."
"Oh!" Luke knew exactly what Reid was talking about, but he didn't want to talk about that now, he knew Reid would be embarrassed and he would pretend to Luke that he wasn't, it would make this moment awkward and he wanted their reunion to be perfect not uncomfortable. "No! I hung my stuff up in your wardrobe; the rest went in "my" bedside table, you know, on the right hand side."
"Your bedside table? I believe it to be my bedside table….." Reid stated, brushing his left knee against the inside of Luke’s left leg, causing Luke to moan out a little, god he’d missed this so much.
"Yeah, well, it's my side of the bed now, seeing as you sleep on the left, so it’s my table, where I’ll put my things."
"Hmm” Reid replied, feeling his hand out in the air, trying to find the light pull, he found the string and pulled on it lightly, bringing them into the light.
“There’s that face I love so much” Luke said with a smile, looking at Reid’s hair he noted that he’d made an effort to spike it, but had completely failed, he put his hands into the auburn curls and began to twist at the strands with his finger tips.
Reid smiled, he loved the feeling of Luke playing with his hair, he closed his eyes for a brief moment, breathing slowly, smelling Luke’s aftershave, combined with the sensation of Luke’s fingers in his hair he was in seventh heaven “I must admit, Luke,” Reid stated still with his eyes closed “I am looking forward to coming home to you, already in my bed, “my bed”” Reid now opened his eyes, Luke still running his fingertips in Reid’s curls “naked and I can get in and spoon up against you. It won’t be till late though Luke, every night it’s late."
"So if you're busy working all the time, when are we going to use my present you bought me?" Luke asked, moving his head back a little to admire his masterpiece, it still needed a bit of work so he returned his fingers to the ends of Reid’s hair.
"Well, as you know Luke, I hadn't got plans to see you until next week, so I guess it'll have to wait until then." Reid now put his hands around Luke’s waist, holding on, for he felt his knees may just give way at any moment, how could a simple touch, cause every single hair on his skin to stand on end, his stomach to turn in knots, his toes to curl.
"Not a chance, you'll have to remove it from the bedroom if you expect me to last a whole week." Luke now licked at the ends of his fingers, Reid’s hair needed a bit of moisture....
Reid leaned in again, kissing Luke lightly "I'm glad you like it, I thought you might be scared of it!"
"I am a little, but I trust you to be gentle with me." Luke took another look at Reid’s hair, perfect, not that Reid hadn’t been perfect before, in his eyes he was always perfect; he was just now perfect, but with the Luke touch.
"You've seen the size of that thing right? I'm not sure I can be gentle with it, god, I've been thinking about it ever since I bought it."
Luke cupped his hand to Reid’s groin "Oh yeah" "why didn't" "you say" "something, maybe we could” "have been" "imaginative on the phone" "with it"
"Oh Luke" Reid sighed "If I didn't have loads of work to do I'd have you right here, in here..."
"What is here?" Luke asked, for he’d not looked round, all he could see was Reid.
"It's just a closet."
"Nice" Luke replied
"This is why I told you not to come here, because I knew as soon as I saw you I'd want to rip all your clothes to the floor."
"Whilst that's a lovely thought Reid, I'm not really sure I'm up for that at the moment. I still feel a little........err.....green"
"Sorry Luke, for a moment it completely slipped my mind, I saw you, I just wanted to grab you and hold you........I should have asked how you were first...” Reid felt terrible all of a sudden.
“Reid it’s fine” Luke interrupted
“It’s not fine, your health is the most important thing to me, you understand? I told you I’m in this for the whole enchilada, remember? I mean it, you need to take care of yourself. I could shake you for being so stupid, but I won’t because....I love you.”
“And it’ll probably make me barf” Luke replied
Reid smiled “yeah! And that....so you've got your medication right?"
Luke nodded "Yup, I love you so much for doing that, I can’t even describe, but I know how I am going to re-pay you"
"Go on" Reid replied with narrowed eyes.
"By the time you get home your fridge will be stocked with the nicest niceties you could imagine, I was thinking maybe some sliced ham, hot mustard, mayonnaise, maybe some salami..."
"...oh god, you had me at sliced ham, ooo, if you are going shopping don't forget some of those..."
"I'm not getting anything that cooks in a microwave Reid so you can just dream on, from now on you have proper meals, cooked properly, healthy, wholesome food."
"Could I at least maybe have some chocolate cake, just a small one?”
"I'll see what I can do!"
**********************************************************************************************************
Luke kept his promise and from the hospital he drove straight to the nearest supermarket, having got Reid to write him a list, even though Luke had said he wouldn't buy him any, as he scanned down the list he noticed it contained at least three microwavable dinners.
He would allow Reid those three, but no more, now that he was here, he'd make sure that Reid got at least one healthy wholesome meal inside him everyday.
He walked down each aisle, meandering his cart from one side to the other as he walked down them, for the supermarket was pretty deserted, being the middle of the working day; he practically had the whole place to himself. Humming merrily as he walked, checking items off against Reid's list, which constituted of sugary filled item after sugary, heart attack inducing item. Luke already had a pretty good idea of what Reid liked anyway from their previous shopping encounter, but this time he'd make sure that he also checked out some fresh fruit and vegetables, he wasn't a great cook but he was happy to give it a go, he was happy to do it for Reid.
As he reached the last aisle, he was halfway down before realising he was in the liquor aisle, he'd always avoided this section at home, making a point not to even approach it, but he hadn't even given it a moments thought, it wasn't written on Reid's list, but he wasn't going to deny him alcohol just because he couldn't drink, he reached forward towards a pack of four Stella’s and as he motioned to place them into his cart he felt a tight grip around his wrist, no correction, not tight, painfully tight, purposefully and excruciatingly tight, he quickly turned his head to see who was at his side and as soon as he had done, he dropped the beer cans on the floor one of them cracking open and spraying out all over the floor.
"Alex!" Luke gasped out, staring from Alex's face back to his hand that was still wrapped tightly around his wrist.
