Reid held his stethoscope to the little girl’s chest. He frowned. “Yes. This is very serious. I’m going to have to write you a prescription.”
The little girl giggled happily and held out her hand for the prescription.
Reid pulled out a little pad and wrote something on it. He ripped off the top sheet and handed it to the girl. She took the piece of paper and skipped down the hall to the Nurses’ Desk. She handed the paper to Aunt Gretchen. Aunt Gretchen was married to Uncle MJ who was Aunt Iva’s and Grandpa John’s son. Her family was weird. Daddy Reid always said so.
“Oh no!” grasped Aunt Gretchen dramatically. “Do you have a prescription that you need me to fill, Emmie?”
Emmie nodded enthusiastically.
Aunt Gretchen took the piece of paper and exchanged it for a pack of Tic Tacs. Wintergreen flavor. Emmie sighed happily upon receiving her medication and skipped back to Daddy Reid.
