A Celebration in Los Angeles - Part One nancygrew December 3 2011, 05:48:02 UTC
Luke was leaning against the bar grinning at the sight of his friend, Casey Hughes leading a Conga line around the chic LA club that was hosting the after-party for the premier of the movie he had written. He glanced around the room and noticed that his grandmother, Lucinda Walsh-Dixon was sitting at a corner table flirting with Ryan Gosling, one of the stars of the movie. Lucinda’s husband John appeared amused at the way she was making the movie star blush. His sisters were sitting at one of the tables laughing hysterically at something his cousin Jade was saying. There were other friends and family members in the crowd, as well. It made Luke happy to see how so many people that he loved gathered in one place enjoying themselves ( ... )

Two studio executives approached the group. Luke tugged at a lock of Reid’s hair, hoping it would remind him to not refer to the two men as Smarmy Studio Executive Guy and Other Smarmy Studio Executive Guy. Luke was pretty sure that they’d probably be offended by Reid’s adorable little nicknames for them ( ... )

Haha...love this! So funny. Noah can have fun with his artisitic integrity and weird boyfriend while Luke is rolling in $ and shagging his hot, successful, supportive lover. :)

My favorite part: Lucinda chatting up that hottie, Ryan Gosling. Meow! :)

Thank you! I really find the idea of Luke accidentally being more successful in the movie business than Noah to be so funny..

Thank you. Reid may always be arrogant and rude to most people but he's going to excel as Luke's boyfriend.

Very funny! :D And ha, take that, Noah!

“Bob, stop,” warned Luke. “Kim and Reid are around here someplace.”

Hee, ouch!

“Oh, I’m so sorry,” said one of the execs with sincere sympathy. “It’s always a kiss of death when those artiste types like a movie.”

Tee hee hee! :)

Thanks so much! It just occurred to me know that I could have had Bob and Kim standing close enough to hear and to have Bob turn to Kim and say "We didn't mean for you to find out this way."

Thanks! When I was writing this, it occurred to me that it would be really funny to see a snippet of Noah and Mason's life where they're kind of like George and Martha from Whose afraid of Virginia Woolf.

“Wait a minute,” stammered Noah. “You’re letting someone else write the sequel? Have you no artistic integrity?”
“Guess not,” gritted Luke. “But I do have a contract for a piece of the gross for all sequels. That should comfort me if I ever do catch a case of artistic integrity.”

Hilarious! Loved it!

Thanks so much! I just love writing fic where Noah sees that Luke's life is just fantastic without Noah in it.

Thank you! I think that no matter how long they've been broken up, Luke would really want Noah to be happy and he'd be hurt if Noah didn't feel the same way for him. The downside to being caring.

So much fun in this ficlet. I really liked Luke's little reminder to Reid as they met smarmy one and smarmy two. That was a wonderful exchange.

Thanks very much! Reid's never going to master all of the delicate nuances of polite social interactions.
