Not to seem insensitive to the concerns of people that do not fit neatly into gender stereotypes (I think they enhance our collective cultural identity), but debates like this always seem to approach absurdity at light speed.

I think male/female/other is fine, but the suggestions of lists of a million different things are a little much. And this is coming from someone who has a very good friend who is FtM and would like nothing more than to just tick off that "male" box. :)
