I've been watching quite a few television series in the past few years. Most of them aren't really worth mentioning, but here are some that I think are worth mentioning, even if you've probably already heard about them.
Misfits
Skins meets Heroes. I never really got into Heroes, but if it had been more like this, I would've definitely watched it. They make an unfortunate character change for the third season. Also, one of the dudes reminds me of an ex bf, which is disturbing. I don't know if it's just me, but the slums in American shows have always kinda felt like something out of Hollywood, but the British version in shows like Misfits seem real. Maybe it's because we don't really have places like that in Finland. Sure there are some neighbourhoods that are worse than others, but the difference between a good and a bad neighbourhood aren't as steep around here.
Game of Thrones
The books are better, but if you're not one of those reading types, this is probably the best fantasy series of this century (scifi not being counted as fantasy). I could nitpick about a lot of things that bug me about the adaptation, but I'll just settle for saying that Hollywood still doesn't get snow. There's probably loads of snow and ice beyond the wall and the people are just walking on top of it. That's movie magic. Snow very rarely hardens so much that you can walk on top of it. In real life it's hard work wading through snow, if it's more than ankle deep. That's why you use skiis or snow shows. Boo for Game of Thrones, if they don't start using either of those in the following seasons. Wildlings at least shouldn't be so stupid as to try to walk through snow.
Big Bang Theory
The only comedy show that I follow. The only comedy show that I've been following for the past couple of years. Bazinga! Nerdy stuff and humor. What's not to like.
Falling Skies
The best scifi series to come out since the Battlestar Galactica remake. Also one of the best post-apocalyptic shows that I've seen, and I've seen most of them. I've gotten so hooked to this show that I've been watching it as it comes out, because I just haven't been able to wait to see more of it. Usually I watch shows a season at a time. Falling skies is also the only show out of these listed here where I actually know when the next season is coming out. I have to wait until next Summer to see more of it. ;_; Bloody cliffhanger.
True Blood
I haven't watched the last two seasons. Vampires are still not my thing, but this is still the only vampire series worth watching.
Doctor Who
During the first two or three seasons I was all ”these aliens are so lame, it's shows like these that give science fiction such a bad reputation”, but then Doctor Who got better as it got past most of the stupid daleks and cypermen. Now it's pretty awesome. I'm loving the plot twists.
Torchwood
A Doctor Who spin-off. The first two seasons are entertaining, but if you can muddle (sp?) through them the third and fourth seasons, Children of Earth and Miracle Day, are pretty awesome. A whole season with a continuous plot. <3
Sherloch
The third BBC show on this list. You'd think that Sherlock Holmes has been redone to death, but this is a whole new take on it. The Sherlock in this one is awesome. (Why are the asexual characters always so fucked up in the head in tv series? What's up with that?) There's a total of six episodes so far as it's a mini-series.
Seirei no Moribito
I haven't watched much anime lately, aside from One Piece. Seirei no Moribito is worth watching. It's a fantasy anime set in the history of some fantasy Japan. There's a kick ass female lead character. I have a feeling that I've recommended it before... Well, no matter. It's worth a watch.
I could do another one of these lists about movies, but not right now.
