Murderer of inspiration!

I was doing so well. Just this week I have painted 2 paintings and I'm working on the 3rd. The paintings are coming out great, and I'm all pumped up, and then what happened?
I'll tell you what happened... my mother happened! She is just a bundle of pessimism! She doesn’t even have to say any thing (although she did). All she has to do is give it ( Read more... )

That kinda sucks for you :( I hope this doesn't get you down too much. I think your paintings are amazing ;)

BTW, if you're still interested in seeing some of my painting attempts, here's the link to my LJ 'gallery'. As I said, I'm really only an amateur and I've never had any ‘real’ instruction in art, but I love it anyway ;)

Hope you enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for the encouragement.... Thankfully I went to NY to go to museums this weekend so now I'm full of inspiration.
I checked out your art and I think you should do more, they are really good. My favorite is the one with the parrots, was that watercolor? I suck at watercolor; one needs to be in control to work with that medium, I just don’t have enough patience.
Any ways that was my favorite, the colors are bright and cheerful and the background is soft and inviting.
Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks!! I'm glad you like the parrots- it's actually done in rice paper and ink, which is a bit of weird medium to work with. The thick white lines are all done with a wax stylus, and then you paint the picture and iron the wax off at the end. It's a kind of masking. I kinda like it. I tend to paint landscapes in watercolours and animals in acrylics. I guess it depends on the subject matter, really.

Anyway, I'm happy that NY inspired you! I hope you'll let us have a look at some more of your work sometime ;)
