I very much like the idea that Erik has been staying in Canterbury hotels! *g*

And the second ficlet is lovely - they're both such complicated characters, and I love things that explore their different facets, including the ones that maybe aren't so obvious...

As a medievalist, so do I! Not sure why that was the first thing to come to mind for that prompt, but it did, so we went with it!

You know I love dialogue; but I love character studies, too, and they ARE complicated people, both of them, and it was fun to just see how much of that multifacetedness I could fit into five minutes of writing. (It was probably more like ten, by the time I edited and posted, but oh well.) And for some reason Erik's dreams, there, is one of my own favorite lines ever. So, in conclusion: happy you like! nice to know I can still write short things! *grin*

(Actually, something else up just now--something different, for me! Not sure it was entirely successful, but it was fun...)

These are both lovely little studies! I especially love the line about Erik safeguarding Charles's optimism even as he rolls his eyes at it, and the line about Erik's dreams and the heartbeat of the earth. Just gorgeous!

Oh, thank you! :-) They were both written super-quickly, but I did like how they came out, and I always like little character-study pieces, especially with them--they both have so many layers. Like onions, or ogres. :-p
