Sorry for the delay! Life, and so on. However, I now suspect there are nine chapters, instead of eight, if that helps?
Title: More Than All The World (The Werewolf’s Tale) (chapter 7)
(chapter 6 part two

here) (chapter 5

This was lovely - I love how very protective Charles and Erik are of each other, and how they hold each other accountable and together.
I can't wait to see how this continues!

There was totally supposed to be porn in this one, but it started getting incredibly long (er, the chapter, not anything else), so...next time! And also thanks for pointing out this how they hold each other accountable and together. ....because it really is mutual, they've become real partners, by now, despite obstacles of form and so on. And they're good at supporting each other in the areas where they each need it, while also respecting each other's strengths. :-)
More soon, hopefully! Back to James and Michael tomorrow, though, because that one's done too...

And I do always like the Charles & Emma relationship when it's written like this - Emma wanting to be cold and reserved, but not really able to hold it together in face of Charles' unremitting politeness and friendliness (although she's still very much Emma, of course!).
But it still breaks my heart that Charles is going to be forever affected by what's happened to him - that is a plot development of evil, even if it does work very well...

Probably so secretly that he doesn't even realise it himself! And won't until something happens to make him realise it...
Charles being all polite and bright-eyed and kind at you is an irresistible force, I suspect!
And someone remaining supremely unruffled and polite in the face of annoyances and supposed danger is enormously frustrating, if nothing you can say or do will get to them!
Because life for them can never be easy.
*sigh* No, I suppose not... :)

Hmm. *ponders chapters eight and nine* *probably nine because eight's mostly going to be very gentle sexytimes*

Charles wins arguments through sheer stubborn niceness! By which Erik frequently finds himself baffled, but he can't disappoint Charles, who persists in believing, in the face of all evidence, that Erik himself is also a nice person; so he helplessly, besottedly, goes along...

Poor Charles, indeed. It might get a bit better, as he says--it'd be nice if he could at least walk to the library without ending up out of breath and dizzy--but probably not completely better, ever. (Which does work, canonically, I think...) But this gives Erik an excuse to be EVERY kind of protective, always. :-)
ETA: now that LJ's momentarily not being weird, new McFassy up! Contains hurt!James and protective!Michael. *grin*

It does work very well canonically and you know me, I'm always all for Erik having excuses to be protective. ;)
Heh. Momentarily is right! It's giving me fits with leaving comments for some reason ... *pokes at LJ*
I know! Have already devoured the new McFassy fic and managed to leave you a comment. :DDD

Erik getting all fiercely protective of Charles is one of the best things ever. Charles appreciates that, too; not many people in his life have cared that much...
Oh, LJ, don't make me grumpier at you than I am. This is not a good way to start off the new year!

“I imagined this. You…”
“I know.” Charles grinned. You think I didn’t? You were there, as well, as I recall. Grass, and sunlight…
“Yes. But, Charles…” He still had one hand resting on a shoulder; ran fingers over muscle and bone, lightly, no pressure at all. I never imagined this.
In all his dreams, all their wildest shared telepathic fantasies, Charles had been healthy. Strong. Enthusiastic, physically so. And while Charles could be-and was-enthusiastic now, physically had become a difficult adverb. Complicated.

REALLY?! That's such a fantastic compliment! Can I ask what might on there? I've just pretty much got my usual Erik/Charles playlist, with some Mumford & Sons, Foo Fighters, Fleetwood Mac, Bush, Sister Hazel, Gin Blossoms, The Cure...
one of Charles's greatest strengths is his ability to inspire loyalty and build a loving, caring support network
Mmm-hmm--that's one of the best aspects of him in comics!verse, and one that I think's neglected sometimes: that ability to inspire, to provoke other people to greatness, even when they don't see that potential in themselves. Charles sees the best in people, and they respond to that--and so when he needs the help, they come running. (And, as a writer, I wanted to do something that I'd not done--in my own writing, that is, I've seen hurt!Charles done well elsewhere!--before, and I like the extra layer this adds to the developing Erik/Charles: so many other emotions, on both sides, the worry and the concern, Erik's for Charles, and Charles ( ... )
