It has been a busy week. I suspect Part Eight of the Continuation will have to wait until next week; I meant to work on it tomorrow, but I have a science fiction symposium to attend...However, there might be an excerpt up in this post near the end, so...read on? While I babble about things, and ask you all a question?

six possibly-interesting things on my mind )

I am interesting in reading some of your original stuff.
I'll try to read the fic rec later. Between writing fic and reading Filth I feel a bit stretched. Filth is very interesting and I've found I sometimes can't put it down.
Oh I am very excited for this bit. It sounds good for many reasons.

Yay about the original stuff! One other person had asked, and I figured, I should see if there was any interest, before just tossing it up here. I'll have to see which ones're fit for public consumption, though. They are all fantasy to some degree, often with romance, or at least hints of such. :-)
That one I'd been meaning to rec for AGES, because I've reread it several times, and it's been helpful in thinking about the D/s mentality for my own writing (look carefully; you can probably spot the occasional homage in a couple of the later Things With Porn). The writing is lovely.
So Filth is good, hmm? I might have to pick it up. Now that I am emerging from the midterm-grading cave and can read fun things again. ( ( ... )

2. Aaah, McFassy prompt-a-thon. I've posted a prompt there, as well. I'm not sure that I'll write something, though. Not that I'm very busy lately, just very lazy. (I know I should feel guilty about that, but I'm not, oh dear.)
3. YES! Yes and yes again! By all means! *waits impatiently*
4. Ooooh, it does sound interesting! I'll check it out ASAP.
5. The quote of I-do-not-think-this-verb-means-what-you-think-it-means category made me giggle :3 I bet you read a lot of interesting things while grading the papers!
6. Yes to all of the things from this expert! Blue eyes trademark *tries not to laugh* It's brilliant!

A third one? Wow, um- that's one big family (not that it shocks me *that* much, I have two siblings, as well ;D) ♥ Ah, yes. I remember you saying that right now, you're not thinking about children. But you do get along with your brother's kids, right? :)
2. *flails a bit* Thank you! *hugs you* And there's nothing to apologize for! Life is life~
3. Soon is good. Yes.
4. I'm reading it right now, actually. I haven't reached the sex part yet, though. But! It's very lovely ^^ (Oh boy, I'm sorry for my grammatical fails, it's hard to think in English sometimes, since- you know- I'm Russian.)
5. Di-different time zones? ... *tries not to laugh* Really? Time zones?
6. I can't believe that I wrote 'expert' instead of 'excerpt'. *is ashamed* God dammit, fingers! Type correctly, please! I'm replying to the English professor here and you fail me so D:
(Read it. Thank you, with all of my heart, love. I'm replying to you right now~)

I really want to leave a prompt at the prompt-a-thon, but I can't think of a single thing! My brain is failing me! Stupid brain... (Also, said brain now wishes to write a fic in which James is a terrible singer - which probably isn't even true - thanks to your prompt!).
In a typical heroic fantasy, males satisfy the heroic character
Well, I'm sure that happens in some heroic fantasy, just maybe not the typical kind... ;)
And you should definitely post your original stuff - I would read the hell out of that! :D

(*encourages your brain* Write the fic! James has quite a nice voice--and he does sing in Arthur Christmas--but he'd probably end up laughing and missing words.)
See, I knew I'd be proved wrong! But, in my brain, James is drunk. And no one sings well when they're drunk, right? So I could get around it that way (IF I write it, and that's still an IF, even though my brain is still thinking thoughts about it, like how it's totally somehow Kevin Bacon's fault that James is drunk... *g* But in any case, I want to crack on a bit more with the fest fic before I think about anything else!)

Oh, it's totally Kevin's fault somehow. Like, he keeps buying James drinks, because he thinks that drunk-and-happy James is hilarious, and then encouraging him to do things, like sing, and express his feelings...And what's Michael thinking about this, anyway? *evilly enables*
Now back to napping. Because apparently I am, actually, sick. :-/

4. Oh, I've read that before, isn't it wonderful?
6. *loves* *waits patiently for the rest*

4. Yes it is! Gorgeously evocative. The emotions, and the mutual love and trust, are so perfectly expressed. <3
6. Probably early next week? I'm trying to work on it now, but I know it won't be done before the symposium I have to attend at 12:30. And tomorrow is just FULL OF TEACHING AND MEETINGS AND ARGH. Soon, though! :D :D

I love the thought of James distracting Michael in order to get the laptop, and the future years of hilarious in-jokes about religion and priests. (On a related note, one of my good friends once hooked up with a guy dressed as a priest at a Halloween party and we still tease her about defrocking him. She's now got a catch-phrase: "Oh, Father Charlie," said in a mocking tone.)
Karaoke! That shall now always remind me of our crack-fic.
Life. Life causes fandom interruptus, and that's okay.
Hope the baby comes soon! Hope you have fun at your symposium! Smooches!

James is very devious, when he needs to be! And Michael doesn't actually mind that quality. And will continue to tease him mercilessly about priesthood forever. (Ahaha ALL THE BAD DEFROCKING PUNS. That's an awesome story.)
Indeed! Which reminds me that I need to write the last scene of the current one. I know where I want it to go, I just haven't had the time... :-/
Thanks! (And thanks on my sister-in-law's behalf, too! Still no news on that front...) I'm heading to campus in about half an hour, so, hopefully it'll be an exciting afternoon. Lots of talk about SF and teaching SF and the potential of the genre. :D :D
