new fic: love it all

Mar 12, 2012 23:49

So...I should be working on this month's Erik/Charles holiday fic, but...instead I wrote some completely random James/Michael fic, it seems. Well, why not?

Title: Love It All
Rating: PG
Word Count: 2,369
Disclaimers: boys are not mine, only doing this out of affection; title from The Kooks’ song of that name.
Summary: all the fluff, seriously! I’m ( Read more... )

it's cute and adorable and I just want to curl up in this fic and use it as a shield against the harsh world because I love your writing and I love them and you and /melts into goo.

*cuddles all the goo* :-)

I totally needed to write something cute and PG-rated and fluffy for them! I'd been working on the Continuation Of Doom and doing terrible fictional things to poor James, and...I had to stop and come up with something short and happy, darn it! (Short and happy also a good description of James, of course!)

This one was prompted by one of the Daily Delicious posts; meant to be comment!fic, and I even remember the picture, but it got too long, and then I got distracted, and now I've lost track of the actual DD inspiration. But it's out there somewhere. :-)

That was lovely. :) I adore all your fics, btw, but am pretty rubbish at commenting. One of the stand out things with your writing is the cadence of the dialogue. It's always such a pleasure to read them talking to each other in your 'verse(s).

Aww, yay, thank you! :D :D

And no worries, I'm probably not as good as I should be about commenting for other people, either. Life, it is busy. :-)

One of the stand out things with your writing is the cadence of the dialogue. It's always such a pleasure to read them talking to each other in your 'verse(s). This is such a lovely compliment! *happy faces* I do--er, perhaps immodestly?--think that dialogue is one of my writing strengths? Or at the very least I usually have fun writing it. So it is nice to know that other people like it, too. And also--the characters should have fun talking to each other, too! Because they would, right? :-)

It's short and happy, just like you said! :D (Seriously, I have been smiling about that all damn day!)

And I have a secret fondness for the term 'dear' - in fact, I love all those slightly old fashioned terms of endearment, like dear and darling, although my absolute favourite is actually 'dearest', which just melts my heart every single time!

Oh, and high five to James for calling Michael out on those sunglasses! *g*

Heh...then I'm so glad I made that joke. (I made myself giggle, and thought you might appreciate it...)

I do, too! Sometimes Awesome Husband gets called 'dear'. Or 'love'. (Or, occasionally, 'cute things,' because at one very early point we were watching...some movie...and he made a comment about always thinking it's sweet "when couples call each other, you know, cute things...") I love the unashamed openness of affection in speech. (Also one thing I love about the Temeraire series...) :-)

I HAD a Daily Delicious picture in mind as inspiration when I started this, but I've lost track of it, but possibly you remember the one I meant? Yeah, boys, we'd much rather see your beautiful eyes. :-)

It's entirely possible that joke is going to make me smile forever. :D

And I can think of several pics I've seen around and about that might fit the bill as inspiration. Those sunglasses, geez... ;)

I love that, despite how nicely they both CAN dress, when they want to, they seem to be such GUYS about accessories. ("What? These are functional sunglasses, right? Also, what do you mean this is an unattractive jacket?")

(...and, yes, I AM using LJ as a means of relaxation before the guest lecture! if I am here, I am thinking about fandom and not how many people will or won't turn up...)

“I want to kiss you when you say anything. Or when you don’t say anything. Or always. And I love you. And your foot. Um, both your feet. And the rest of you. Is this helping, at all?”

Hee, Michael's desperate rambling is the most adorable thing ever. Michael coaxing James to remove his sunglasses with a procession of insult, honesty, and flattery? Also the most adorable thing ever. I feel that your so much fluff tag is misleading, however; this is, in fact, all the fluff.

I am equal parts excited and worriedexcited for the upcoming hurt/comfort fic.

It IS all the fluff. But they, and I, needed that, as respite from all the upcoming terrible things! (Poor James. I'm so sorry.)

I loved the sunglasses moment; I think that was my favorite bit of this one. (Or everything Michael says...) It just made me smile, when I wrote it. He's trying so hard to make everything okay, when he doesn't really even know what he's said wrong. <3

As always, so glad you liked! and thank you for saying all the lovely things! :D :D

'I miss you too dear but don’t really want to know about you loving my goat legs' and Michael had laughed out loud and then panicked, considering certain thoughts he’d been having in the shower a few hours earlier and wondering whether James could possibly read minds via text message

LOL, Michael, what certain thoughts? Thoughts about Mr. Tumnus' goat legs? How you'd like to carefully brush the hair there until it's soft and silky before you mess it all up again with sex?

So his fantasies are kind of pathetically domestic.

And sweet, Erik. Pancakes, coffee, crossword puzzles...those all sound good.

“Except you stepped on my foot, and then you looked at me like you were afraid of me, and then you told me that you didn’t think there’d be room for me at your hotel. So I’m not sure I want to be in love with you, anymore. It’s kind of painful, to be honest.”

Oh James, you make me want to snuggle you to take away the pain. I'm sorry Michael is so clueless at this point.

He’s not used to that sharp an edge being so dangerously buried ( ... )

Um...I think they were just thoughts about how nice James's legs are...or possibly about James shirtless. Not that I can read Michael's mind, of course...

Domestic fantasies are the best. I mean, you can have all the kinky sex and passionate lovemaking, but what you really want is someone you're excited to wake up next to, in the morning. :-)
(Also, apparently I have a thing for Michael feeding James? That happened in the Trilogy of Angst, or at least WILL be happening, and then we had Michael making him drinks, and...yeah.)

I liked James's line there, in this one, even though it's so painful--I'm not sure why I like it so much, but I think it's because he's trying so hard to be flippant and make a joke out of it, but he knows how much he's hurting. At least Michael's instinctive reaction is to try to help. <3 ( ... )
