So, X-Men Remix Madness is off and running. Though I'm not sure I've the time to write anything myself, I did want to reiterate here (I've also opted in over there) that my fic is available to play with! In fact, I'll go ahead and say it again:

Anything you want to do with any of my fic, in any fandom--including remixes, art, podcasts, what have ( Read more... )

my fic and things you can do with it, i love my job, x-men remix madness, academia, promises of fic to come

I do definitely still want to attempt something for one of the Dropkick Murphy Trilogy fics, just might be a bit before I really touch anything more than my own brief little notes. But I do want you to know that I am playing a bit with something. :D

(I highly doubt anyone would want to do anything with mine, so idk if I'll say anything. Not like I really have an opening to go "Oh and blanket statement", since I don't qualify for the official remix. (damn me and my primarily mcfassyness.))

I am intrigued! Which one? I mean, it's hard to really do just one of those, I would think, since there's no happy ending and barely any Michael-James interaction until the last...though a Michael POV of that last one would likely be interesting, his reactions to all the tabloid photos, his desperate need to find James, them colliding in that hallway, Michael being so scared that James really is ill...just idle thoughts, over here! Yours will likely be even better and more interesting! (The unwritten fourth one is basically about Michael cooking everything ever for James, trying to a- fatten him up again, but, you know, healthily; and b- show him that yes, Michael IS committed to being with him, heart and body and soul and cooking skills...)

You could always suggest a McFassy Remix Party! I'd play. :-)

It is kind of sort of the three of them or well, second and third one. I believe. Definitely involving Michael's side of things, such as the lost phone. I have a friend who lost his phone once and the hoops he had to jump through to get a new one and then all the contacts he'd lost (he's the only person I know who actually has all contacts in his phone, also written down in a pocket contact book.) Michael says he called that night and then lost his phone. I've kind a bit of a scenario of maybe how that might have happened and what happened afterwards. He did after all have to contact James' agent to find James. Obviously there was some reason for it. And then maybe some of your ideas there ( ... )

Obviously there was some reason for it.Ooh, yes. This would kind of bridge the gap between the 2nd and 3rd stories, really. And fill in what Michael was thinking, when he tried to call James, then, and how he felt when he realized he'd lost the phone, and why he didn't try calling again... (He called James's agent because, losing the phone, he'd lost all his stored numbers, and he was seeing the tabloids and the James McAvoy Health Crisis! stories and getting absolutely panicked, and then that one headline suggested that James had some sort of cancer, and James's on-record refutation wasn't actually very reassuring because he looked so tired and thin, and that was Michael's breaking point, James's agent has a listing with Central Casting, so at least he could find that, and he could go down to the office and demand to know where James would be, and he looked so desperate that ( ... )

I simultaneously find the idea of remix challenges cool and frightening! I would never be able to do justice to someone else's fic, and I'd be worried that I was totally ruining it or doing something to it that would annoy them!

I've not had any students bring me things, but academics have brought me cake or chocolate on occasion for doing things for them and helping them out. It is nice to feel appreciated! :)

I've never actually done one; I'm not opposed to trying, but I think I'd want to pick a story by someone who a- I know and b- who knows my writing, such that I'd be fairly sure they'd not be disappointed! I'd be nervous doing it for a stranger. (Wow, that...sounds rather odd out of context! oh well...) (I believe, though I may be wrong, that significantowl is possibly remixing one of mine. She inquired about it, anyway, though I'm not sure if it's for Remix Madness or just for fun...She won't tell me which one, and I'm curious!)

It IS nice to feel appreciated! Someone somewhere has noticed all the effort you put in, and that's an awfully nice feeling. And you of course deserve all the chocolate. (We have a potato-chip sea-salt milk-chocolate candy bar for later...)
