because iconing is serious business (and so are all other forms of graphic design), and because my photoshop took a major shit yesterday, forcing me not only to reinstall it but to remove all custom preferences, i'm back to downloading brushes and textures, ect. i am pretty sure i've written down everything properly, and this is where i'll credit ( Read more... )

So, um, what's brushes and how do you use them and stuff?

go to 100x100_brushes and find something you like -- they're kind of self-explanatory when you look at them as to what they're for. some are for borders, some are for inline, some are to overlay...ect. if you browse through them, you'll be able to find things you want...download them according to your program (photoshop of any sort has .abr files; paint shop pro has .jbr, but don't quote me on that last. i haven't used psp for a while). you have to load them to your program, and then you can select them from the brush menu and use them on things like a little stampy thing. they are quite handy.

if you need help, i can screencap the process of loading them in photoshop for you. :)
