Kyon carefully lifted the fairy boy up--what did he weigh, 10 ounces?--using his other hand to remove whatever the hell that crap was.
It took a minute or so, but it looked like the little fairy boy was free, if a little sticky still.
"You have... wings," he said slowly, hoping his English was right. What he really wanted to know was how someone who could fly ended up stuck on the stairs.

"...A 'ferry'?" Kyon was absolutely flummoxed. Then it clicked. Fairy. Yes, it was pretty obvious that the boy with wings was a fairy. His ears were pointed and he was so small.
"Ano..." His English was failing him again, and he closed his eyes in frustration as he tried to think of something that made sense.
"How... How did... you..." How did you get stuck?! "Can you fly?"

Kyon obediently walked far away enough from the sticky substance and made sure to set the little fairy boy on a nice clean part of the floor. He stared down at him, still a little shocked at seeing a fairy.
"I am ... sorry," Kyon blurted out at him. "My Eigo--ah, En...glish. It is bad. I am Niho--" and he sighed. The Japanese kept slipping out. "Japan... Er, Japanese," he finished and hoped that English not being his native language would make up for the failure of English that he was trying to force out of his mouth.

"Ore wa Kyon desu." Wait. The extra words probably didn't help. "My name is Kyon," he said slowly, making sure all of the words were correct. Were they? My name is, your name is, her name is... Yes, that sounded right.

Definitely a Westerner, Kyon thought as Terrence raised his hand for a handshake. He was what, five feet taller than the fairy boy?
"It is very nice to meet you," echoed Kyon and very carefully, and as lightly as he could, shook Terrence's hand. He worriedly though: I hope I'm not breaking bones.

"Naru hodo... Ano..." [I see.... um...]
"Wh-Wh-...Where should I... ah... put you?"
Kyon didn't want to linger in the hallway for too long. Haruhi could be lurking, and she would snatch the fairy boy up and exploit him somehow.
