Shoot, I don't have time to read this before my surgery. But it's the first thing I will get to as soon as I'm not wonky on pain meds. I have been looking forward to this fic so hard.

Seriously excellent timey wimey discussion. I really like your explanation for why Peter is still there and the theory that matter cannot be destroyed just changed. Such a fascinating chapt!

Thanks so much! I always try to base my resolutions at least a little bit in scientific fact, and when I was thinking of possible explanations, the rule about "States of Matter and Energy" seemed to fit the closest, and most adequately explains why something that exists can't just be wiped from existence.

Don't worry. I'm totally ignorant about the sciency stuff too -- I was an English and History gal, not a science and maths type -- and to be honest, most of the time I just go by what little I remember from 8th grade physical science all those years ago. And the sad thing is that for sci-fi, that seems to work just fine. I thought my explanations for things were squiffy at best originally, but considering that the Fringe writers have actually used some explanations I've used in fics after I've written them, I can't help but think maybe I really understood science better than my teachers gave me credit for, lol.

And don't worry, Olivia isn't going to be an Alt!Donna. I don't have it in me to do that to her, plus Peter would track me down and kill me if I hurt her. But that's an interesting correlation that I had not even thought about. Thanks for pointing it out!

And Rose's could be the yellow verse. Or the purple verse really, as it's in the middle between the red and blue. :)

I'm with you on both counts! I scored really, really high in verbal and I finished that section in less than 8 minutes. I was an algebra kid and got stuck with an SAT that was full of geometry questions...and I had no calculator...so, I did the only thing I could do. I played connect the dots with my answers. And I did okay merely doing that, lol. But, I only took bare minimum science and maths at uni, and as a history major I naturally took a buttload of history courses.

Most people probably wouldn't have taken me for a sci-fi fan either. But, I totally always have been -- Star Trek and Star Wars and Time Tunnel and Lost in Space. All of it. I blame my father and my brother -- I either had to grow to like it or be miserable cos they wouldn't watch anything else. Thankfully, I loved it. ;)

I love all these subtle changes you've made to Olivia's life and to this universe without Peter. How the car sent into the other universe killed Elizabeth, really giving Walternate the drive for personal vengeance and payback.

Love the detail also of how part of the reason Olivia doesn't trust Walternate so much is because of those hidden, buried memories of being taken captive by him in that alternate timeline.

Also, really really great job of explaining all this stuff about alternate timelines and how Peter still exists because he's always existed, and how Olivia just has to tune into his wavelength and how Peter's been sending her signals, and the notion of time as a fourth dimension with rewrites and how some rewrites don't change the course of things that much but other ones (like Peter not existing, ah!) are big hiccups.

And gah, she found him. Just waiting, waiting like he always does for her.

Yeah, as I was writing this chapter, I thought to myself that in order for Walternate to be *that* angry at the universe, there had to be some personal tragedy involved still. And voila! The idea of having poor Alternate Elisabeth being hit by Bell's car was born. Add in the fact that it seemed to fit perfectly with canon timeline wise, and well...it seemed the prefect choice.

And I firmly believe that Olivia's distrust of Walternate is some sort of small deja vu. To be honest, I'll be surprised if it doesn't show up somewhere this coming season.

Sadly, I cannot take much credit for the ideas brought up in the timey wimey discussion as they are ideas fully cultivated in DW. (In one episode of s01 of New!Who, Rose makes a HUGE mistake and saves the life of someone who was SUPPOSED to die, and time gets really screwed up to universe ending proportions). I just re-iterated certain ideas for my non-Whovian friends, lol.

And yes, Peter is always waiting for Olivia. It's part of why I adore him as much as I do.
