The bed’s half empty and Alex realizes this because he can stretch out fully and not have to worry about accidentally kicking her or having her accidentally kick him. He recalls, quite painfully, one time in the past that Amy had kicked him hard in the groin. They’d already had a rather exhausting day and night before falling asleep… and then the next day, well, they had intended to take it easy but that hadn’t panned out.
It had been entirely worth it in the end, but a painful night’s rest nonetheless.
And now, as he gets out of the bed, clad only in boxers, Alex is fairly certain of Amy’s location. That’s partly because he knows her and partly because, after he opens the door that separates the bedroom from the living room area, he can see the glow from the television.
Alex moves her legs so he can sit down as well but he doesn’t ask her what’s wrong because if she really needs to vent or if something is really and truly bothering her than she’ll say it.
So when she doesn’t say anything, he doesn’t press the issue. On occasion that hasn’t stopped him but he’s also come to know when he should say something and when to leave well enough alone. Right now is one of those times to leave the issue alone, the pair just watching television.
