Amy woke up sometime around midnight though that was partially because her inner alarm clock was working on Pacific Time and partially because there was an unusual amount of movement and noise from the living room area of the suite.
Not bothering to change from her pajamas, the same Santa Monica High School t-shirt and boy-shorts, Amy walked into the suite.
“What are you doing?”
“Having a late night snack,” Alex replied, polishing off a piece of pizza. “I couldn’t sleep and you did say that this was all expenses paid, right?”
Amy nodded, running a hand through her hair before taking a seat at the table. “You didn’t order the whole menu did you?”
Alex scoffed, “of course not…. the whole menu wasn’t available anyway.”
Amy rolled her eyes, grabbing a strawberry for herself. “You really shouldn’t be eating this late.”
“Are you trying to say that I’m fat?”
“No. just that it’s true… you shouldn’t be eating this late.”
He rubbed the back of his neck, “you want to help me burn these calories?”
And there was no mistaking the look in his eyes, though Amy shook her head. “I would but not in the way you’re implying. I was probably going to go for a walk and then hit the pool.”
Alex winked at her, “for all you know that’s what I was going to suggest.”
Amy scoffed, “maybe but I also know you…” Pushing her chair back from the table, she added, “plus I want to see the sunrise.”
Alex finished another slice of pizza, “give me fifteen minutes? I really don’t want to lose the calories but puking my guts.”
Amy scrunched up her nose, “good point. I’ll wait.” She stood, heading to the couch so she could watch television; Alex joining her soon enough.
