Over brunch at Jamie, Christy and Eve’s apartment the next morning, Amy gives Alex another opportunity to decline; even though she has a feeling he’ll turn that down. The pair are currently sitting in the living room while Christy, A.J, Jamie and Josh are seated at the table.
“Seriously, why are you asking me that?”
“Because, this goes against practically all of your unwritten rules about women, I mean, what if you meet someone… then what?”
Alex smirked, “then I explain the situation and I look like the good guy because I’m helping you.”
Amy rolled her eyes, “you are unbelievable.”
“You asked,” Alex replied and then shrugged. “And for your information, I haven’t had a one night stand since moving into the apartment complex.”
“Not for lack of trying, I’m sure…” Amy speculated and shook her head when he only grinned. “Well, just remember… anytime you want out, just say so.”
Alex shook his head, “not gonna happen Ames, face it. You can’t get rid of me that easily.”
Amy scoffed, “believe me, I know.”
“So,” Alex reached for her hands, “you have plans for tonight?”
“So help me God, if this involves any sort of pick-up line I will throttle you.”
“Please, like I would do that to you?”
Amy arched an eyebrow, “that hasn’t stopped you in the past.”
Alex snorted, “Yeah, like what… two years ago? What’s your point?”
“That you don’t need the stupid pick-up lines, kinda defeats the purpose of dating.” And then she paused, “and no, that does not mean I’ll sleep with you.”
“But I can kiss you, right? Without having to worry about you slapping me or your brother chasing after me?”
“Well, yeah… I guess that’s okay.”
“We’d have a pretty boring relationship if I didn’t even get to kiss you.”
“Technically, we aren’t in a relationship.”
“You know what I meant.”
“Would you two just kiss and get it over with already?” Christy rolled her eyes at the pair, blowing a raspberry at her sister, “and don’t look at me like that, Ames. You know you want to.”
“Your sister is my new hero,” Alex declared, wiggling his eyebrows at the somewhat annoyed redhead seated next to him.
And then before she could change her mind or walk away, he leaned in mouth meeting hers, lightly at first and then with more pressure, coaxing and teasing her lips apart.
“And you doubted me?” Jamie said to A.J and Christy, a smug look on her face, “both of you, pay up.”
Begrudgingly, A.J and Christy each handed the smirking blonde $20 each, Josh having the most unfortunate task of breaking Alex and Amy apart.
