On Saturday, they celebrate the first birthday at the apartment complex; though this birthday is celebrated no differently than they usually do by heading to the beach for the day. And because it’s Jamie’s birthday, she gets to pick the beach. After securing the surfboards and loading the cars with food and beverages, they head off to Corona Del Mar, one of the favored surfing spots amongst those who surf.
On the way there, Amy and Jamie, who aren’t driving but are having other’s drive their vehicles, decide that they need to take a trip in the near future to Big Sur but they don’t mention this to anyone else, just yet.
“So,” Jamie begins once they’re at the beach, “are we swimming first or surfing first?”
“Up to you birthday girl,” Amy replies and then arches an eyebrow, “you didn’t bring your tiara?”
Jamie smirks and reaches into her tote bag to bring out the object in question, “of course I did! But the rhinestones and glitter don’t really match with my wetsuit.”
Amy rolled her eyes, the two still dressed in shorts and tank tops. “Well, make up your mind.”
“Yeah, make up your mind,” Christy adds, Angelina, Trish and Eve soon joining them. “What do we do first?”
“As Birthday Queen, I think we should go swimming first.” Jamie nodded towards the beach, “not that we have much of a choice because I think all of the surfboards have been hijacked.”
Christy squinted slightly, “Ames? Did you bring both of your boards?”
Amy scoffed, “if I brought all of them, I’d have five with me but I only store three at the complex. Today though, I only brought one shortboard and one longboard…” A beat passed, “Why do you ask?”
Trish nudged her roommate, “because it looks like your prized longboard is being used. Unless someone has one exactly like yours with the skulls and stuff.”
“Alex has one similar but that’s because we got them at the same time,” Amy commented and shrugged, “only way to tell is by the patterns and sizes of the skulls.”
“We’ll figure it out later,” Jamie decided and then headed towards one of the changing areas. “Let’s just go get changed and get in the water.”
Once they had all changed, Tara, Angelina, Eve and Christy decided on playing beach volleyball first while Amy, Jamie and Trish went straight for the water.
