The only thing, literally the only thing that I didn't like was the pacing. I get that they have to have a kinda weak episode to build the story, but there didn't feel like a fantastic balance of action or even monster-hunting. I can forgive them, though, because asdfkljajklasdfjkl Deannnnnn trying to practice smiles but getting them wrong because his eyes don't crinkle because he can't mean it for real and trying not to cry because big girls boys don't cry when they're repressing shit. And the kid is my new favorite for all the awards.
Claire, Ben, Jessie, and Krissie for the motherfucking win. XD
I was okay on the pacing, just because it made sense in the moment because everything is out of whack. Yeah, not enough acting, but I loved the brooding it replaced, so.
I rewatched that last part twice because I'm a masochist. DEEEEEEEEAN. Crazy replacement Bobby is the last thing Dean needed right now because the guy was all for telling him what to do, and Dean is way too susceptible to that (see: actually trudging through.) Bobby would have made them hug, or at least given the "don't be an idjit" speech.
Ahhh next gen. I feel like I'm minority in thinking that I would actually love a next gen show, kind of how Trek handled it back in the day.
It's funny; I love Frank, but I was whining about how I wasn't sure the show needed another person as similar as Bobby so soon. But in fact, that's exactly what the story needed, because he was just enough like Bobby to make Dean listen in his open and vulnerable state, but not enough to know that that wasn't what Dean needed at that moment. So it was just another heartbreaking element in the end.
I'd totally go for that, so long as the actors had the chemistry. I love sequels.
Oh my god and he's also dismissive and soldier-like, which gives him the John vibe too. Fuuuuck, Dean just got skrewed on the daddy issues front o_O
There have been so many fake castings of this, but yeah, chemistry is number one for this show. They couldn't try and pull off a Christian apocalypse bc Sam and Dean will never have kids (unless they retcon Ben, but ugh dnw) but there are sooo many other apocalypses to play with :) also female characters that don't die! also I want Adam to show up as a big bad. /need to stop
