We had a sugar ant problem too, and while admittedly, our laundry and sort-of kitchen area are the same, they chose to invade the sink (and the cat food, but we cleaned that up right away) and no matter what we did, they kept coming back. And then they tried taking over the dryer, which is certainly not a place we keep food.
We ended up taking everything off the floor in that room and RAIDING the molding. They haven't been back since.
They're weird little shits. 8| I am not part of their world to explore either.
Man, I really don't like the chemical control option, though. XD; Pesticides make me nervous for all KINDS of reasons. We'll try lots of vacuuming and just keeping crap they want away from them and see if that does the trick first. I'm hoping so anyway. 8|
They're the itty bitty black ants that are like little evil crawling seeds instead of the bigger 'proper' ants. They feed primarily on sugar and other sweet things, which is why we call them 'sugar ants.'
Yeah, they're annoying as anything, but they aren't dangerous at any rate. XD Just frustrating to deal with. I HAVE NOTHING ON MY DESK FOR THEM TO EAT. DX
