Truly spoken, kind sir. When last I saw this prison, the sky did not bleed so. May I ask what has occurred?

[He was out rummaging about throughout the rubble, surveying the land for damage when he spotted something ominous lurking within the distance. Trying to get a better look at the approaching entity, Edward stopped cold in his tracks once he saw the dark armor.]

C-Cecil!?

[No, that couldn't be Cecil! Why in the world would he return to such armor? He supposedly forsaken the might of the Dark Knight long before in favor of becoming Paladin instead.]

[He's wearing it because fate was in the mood for a good LOL. Or at least the medieval equivalent of it.]

..Edward? You've been sent here as well? [Had Edward committed suicide since his death? It was the only way he could imagine someone so pure of spirit to be sent into the bowels of hell.]

Sent where? [He asked with a very baffled look upon his face.]

This is the village is it not? Cecil, have you forgotten what has transpired? You...you...

[Edward couldn't bring himself to say it, but the bard was sure Cecil knew what he was referring to right now.]

The others have been so worried about you, Cecil.

Why, to the nether-realm, of course. With such blood in the sky and such misery on all sides, where else could this land be?

[To add to Cecil's woes, he doesn't even have to wait to get home to find a side effect of his revival: Ceodore won't recognize him at all in that creepy dark armor. All his life, Dad's been this astounding pillar of goodness and sparkly righteousness.

So when he's on his way back from helping out at the triage in the barracks, he spots an unfamiliar soul trudging through what's left of the village. Maybe he's hurt!]

[Hurt, no. Broken, perhaps. He recoils at Ceodore's approach, but stands his ground nonetheless. It would not do to show cowardace in front of his son. What example would that set?]

...As well as could be expected.

[Wait. What? WHAT?! That sounds very much like his father, but doesn't look a thing like him. All at once, he's confused and elated, shocked and relieved. He knows it's possible for people to revive and he's been counting on it to survive the grief process, but this was not what he had expected in the least.]

Father?

[Clearly getting punched in the face by Biggs wasn't a good enough lesson for the prince on how to guard his tongue.]

What's happened to you?

I died. [It seemed a simple enough question to warrant a straightforward answer.]

[Rydia finally warps back into the house after doing all she could at the barracks. She would have remained longer, but rest is needed (at the cave) and before then, she just wants to check on Ceodore and Edward (and Sonic and Selphie). The days since the quake have seemed endless, but she can't stop worrying about loved ones, especially since they lost Cecil.

The summoner just reaches the top of the stairs, when she hears the main entrance door open. Assuming it's Edward -Ceodore would have tried teleporting- she heads back down, about to say something...and her jaw drops. Instead of the bard's soft footsteps, she hears the clank of armor. Instead of the bard's bright clothing, she sees a figure clad in very familiar attire. For a moment, she sags against the banister, her tone soft with relief, hope, and shock.]

...Cecil?

[By the time he arrives home, he's at least less convinced that he took a wrong turn at the Afterlife and at least arrived back in one piece. He's perhaps a little too still at the sight of Rydia, easily mistaken for an errant suit of armor if it weren't for his voice.]

...Rydia. You are well?

[Hearing his voice jolts her into motion. She rushes forward. It doesn't matter that he's in that armor again, or that said armor doesn't make him very huggable. Rydia hugs him anyway, as soon as he's within arm's length. For a moment, she can't say anything thanks to the lump in her throat.]

[The hug is appreciated, and returned as tightly as he dares]

I. I'm sorry to have worried you.

*taking place sometime after Rydia encounters him*

[The only reason Kain's in the house- at least briefly, since he'll demand to go back to the cave soon- is that Rydia would have warped to the cave to tell him of Cecil's return. His response to that would be the same apathy he's had all week to everything though, and it'd have taken her bringing him home to have him actually bother with this. So here he is.]

[Kain is mentally as collapsed as the buildings all over town. He hasn't reached out, hasn't let anyone in turn reach him, not even Rydia. So it's no surprise he doesn't respond rationally. Instead, he follows the urges of that darkness that's been wreaking havoc on his mind all week and draws up to aim a heavy punch toward Cecil's face.]

AHAHAHA Lisa ILU. XD

[At least the punch is tolerable now that he's gone back to covering his face with suitable armor. He barely stumbles backward, though makes no move to block or retaliate.]

...I deserve that. I've caused you unnecessary inconvenience.

[Kain follows that up with a couple more punches. He's been out of it and a bit sore all week, and totally neglectful of himself, so they aren't exactly strong punches. Still, it's the thought that counts? Or whatever is in his head currently. It's a creepy place in there, really.]

[Cecil quietly endures the assault, though he drops down to one knee after the fourth or fifth, more from respect than the physical pain of it. Perhaps Kain just needed to train harder.]
