It's always an adventure reading fanfic recs of authors I adore/enjoy. This one person wrote several Sess/Kag fics, a couple of which I really enjoyed, so when s/he posted a rec, I went to check it out. Only to be horrendously disappointed. *sigh ( Read more... )

If you don't want to go the dairy route, eat leafy greens or strawberries. They're loaded with calcium.

But milk is the best way to get calcium--plus it has a bunch of other stuff that helps you absorb it.

Really, if you force yourself to drink milk every day, it starts to taste good. (And it really should be three glasses, not one).
I never drank milk by itself before school this year (hated the taste of it plain), and then I saw the nutritionist and she was like "more calcium, plus more protein because you're a vegetarian. MILK." So I started drinking it, and I didn't like it much at first, but now it's like water for me. If you really don't like it, you can always put some chocolate syrup in it to make chocolate milk, too...

I just don't like the taste of milk. It apparently stems from a time when my parents gave me inferior milk formula as a baby and I simply refused to drink milk and milk formulas from then on.

Ah yes, it is a deep-rooted trauma in me... :p

The current strategy is chocolate milk. I think I can manage three glasses of the stuff --one glass sounded a bit low to me too, but then it might be compensating for the lactose intolerance and the fact that more milk means more time in the potty. But definitely with the generous heapings of chocolate sauce, because Asian milk tastes even worse to me than American milk. Gah.

Do they have lactose free milk where you are?
