I have also embroidered but I cannot stand knitting.
I know how do it and everything, took classes before I was seven but all the dropped stitches malarky and the seeming-to-never-get-anywhere-no-matter-how-fast-or-how-long-I-knit drives me up the wall, across the ceiling and back down again.
I take thread of various colours and tie fringes for my friends' prayer shawls @ synagogue. Some of us also wear the fringes separately on our clothing, so I tie different colour combinations to match it to shirts, etc.
