Hiya, 'sup, and what ho! How is everyone? Life treating you kindly? Anyone missed the annoying little pest that is Lunaoh? Is anyone reading this?
*tumbleweed*
No audience, eh? Well, no matter, it's not like this is the first time I'm talking to myself. :D
Shocked to see me and my nonsense again? I did promise I'd return, even if I or anyone else

While you were gone, a running joke began at my personal LJ regarding a TV show that I now refer to as "the show that shall not be named". If you want to know why I currently equate a TV show with Voldemort, read all about it here:

Oh, ugh! I haven't seen the show, but after reading this I don't want to, either. Way to derail classic characters and hammer in sickening and outdated morals, show. Just reading the essay made the feminist in me twitch with rage. I can see why you'd call it the Voldy of the small screen.
Actually I just read about someone saying how that show was a really great retool and a more adult take on the franchise etc. etc. Guess some people really like this sort of crap. D=

And, since Velma was someone I identified with when I was an awkward, nerdy kid who felt unattractive at times, seeing this show fat-shame her literally made me yell at the TV. I just can't help thinking about all the chubby and/or nerdy little girls who are watching that show and absorbing those negative messages.

I'm a mod over at the scooby_doo comm. And a lot of people say things like "The characters have actual PERSONALITIES now! Unlike the cheesy original show where they had the personalities of rocks!" or "Now the story lines are DEEP and COMPLEX!!".
As if loading a show with angst and misery automatically makes it "adult" and "edgy". Just....AARG!!

Seriously, 98 per cent of kids' shows already do that. Did they really have to assasinate Velma's characterisation just so they could spew the same disgusting message as pretty much every other show out there? That's just plain depressing.

If that were true, it'd make every single OOT h/c fanfic ever written "adult" and "edgy". :V

As for art, do it for fun anyway. I spent the past year deciding to finally just have fun with my silly drawings and meager sewing skills to open up an Etsy shop as a test...and people actually want my plushies, so it's been a strangely wonderful past year! So, don't give up on yourself! Even if you'll never be in league with Leonardo da Vinci, there will still be someone out there that'll appreciate your art. Like me! ^_^

You've opened your own shop on Etsy? =O Congratulations, that's awesome! (and heck, of course people want your plushies, I still remember the ones you posted back in the day and they were adorable.)

I'm doing pretty well. Well, maybe not fandom-wise, since the only one I've actively participated in during the hiatus is the Touhou fandom, and it's kind of notorious for having some really obnoxious people in it. But I've mostly steered clear of them and now that I'm back on LJ I might just become active in a couple of other fandoms.
It's pretty cool, I've made a whole bunch of friends and the lectures are interesting enough. I have a fairly light major, so it doesn't suck away all my time, something I'm more than pleased about.

If I may be so bold to ask, what have you heard of the fandom (I know plenty of reasons to dislike it after having been a part of it, but I'm curious as to what sort of a reputation it has outside the fandom)? It really is a quite unpleasant fanbase. Fortunately though, I have some mates that are also fans without being annoying about it and we have our own miniscule corner of the web where to have fun.
Thanks!
