Roller Coaster Ride

Well here I am again, back for more. I’m not exactly keeping to my once a week posting idea, but you all know the saying about the best laid plans…besides life always has a way of messing things up. And the last couple of weeks have been no exception.

Here Comes the Roller Coaster )

I guess it's a fair statement to say your pipes (anything) would freeze in California.

Good Luck on your job search.

Thanks. It's not even as much all the problems that have been happening (although this winter has been a doozy so far) it's just that I don't like being so far from my family and I'm ready to be back home.

Ah, yes, the "thanks for your interest in developing your career." I almost don't know why I bother applying. Good luck with your job hunt!

I was talking with my boyfriend (he's from Puerto Rico) about the cold and he said, "I've never said this in my life, but I'm looking forward to summer." LOL!

Thanks! I'm determined to get home this year. The cold is just too much for me.

Thank goodness for AAA! Right? They just towed me out of a ditch this week and it's so reassuring to have them around.

This winter has been just ROTTEN. Ugh. I'm exhausted from it already and February hasn't even started yet. :(

Thinking all the good thoughts for you and your interviews! I hope that they adore you as much as they obviously should and that you get back to sunny So Cal soon. *sends good wishes*

Thank you! I have another phone interview on Friday and am keeping fingers crossed. Sadly, the other two opportunities didn't pan out. This is a second-round interview, which means I got past the recruiter's 'filtering' process and will be talking directly to the hiring manager. Keeping fingers crossed!

Meanwhile there has been an update in my moving status, which I'm going to talk about in my upcoming post. :)

Do you HAVE TO stay until August? If one of these prospects pan out but begin in a month or two, what would/could you do? If you could leave, I honestly think you just should do it now. Well, when spring begins. What's the point of staying. You obviously hate it (and I'm sure the summer heat and storms will bring on more worries.) You also said that being out of state has been a problem. I think you should just go back to CA, get any temporary position you can and continue interviewing for something permanent. You're just putting off the inevitable.

That's my two cents. :)

The reason I'd have to stay until August is that I'm not in a financial position to pay off the rest of my lease - and given that the apartment below mine, which is much nicer, has been empty for five months, I doubt they would be able to find a renter in a reasonable time. If I were to get a job, I'd probably be able to get help from my parents with the lease in the interim, but I can't rely on that now. I'd certainly like to leave as early as possible of course but I don't see that as an option right now.

Meanwhile I have another phone interview on Friday (second round, with the hiring manager), which if it works out would mean I could leave in March. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. :)

I understand completely about winter. I hate the cold and darkness. If you didn't grow up with it, I think it would be that much harder to tolerate.

I hope you get some good news from your interviews. (And congrats on the interviews! So many don't even get that far in the process. You must have an impressive resume.)

At least you know your time is up in August (or before that). You can endure until then. January is the coldest month and now it's over. Hang in there and all the best on your job search. *hugs*

I lived on the east coast until I was 10. But the perspective on winter as a kid is much different than as an adult. So I'm not mentally equipped to deal with it from that perspective. It's just too much.

While the other two positions sadly did not pan out, I have a second-round phone interview for one of the jobs on Friday, so there's still some hope. Thanks! :)
